South Shields penalty and Warrington red card after 8 seconds | King’s Lynn score in 19 secs

Saturday saw a South Shields penalty and Warrington red card after 8 seconds while King’s Lynn score in 19 secs against Darlington.

As mentioned, it was just 8 seconds in when Warrington Town’s Andrew White brought South Shields’ John Lufudu to ground inside the penalty area, with referee Gareth Thomas awarding a spot kick and handed White a straight red card.

Meanwhile Warrington Town wrote: “1′ | Disbelief here as inside eight seconds, the referee blows for a penalty and shows a red card to Andy White for pulling back Lufudu.

“2′ | Goal South Shields. Briggs sends Atherton the wrong way from the penalty spot.”

He took another penalty around 10 minutes later when Dec Walker was penalised for handball. Dan Atherton saved it, only for the ball to fall for Paul Blackett, sweeping home the rebound.

10-man Warrington fought back however, with Liddle making his way into the box and sent the ball into the far corner on 23 minutes.

With quarter of an hour left on the clock, Duggan and Amis combined to win a corner and from it, Williams’ delivery was right spot on with Duggan powering home a header.

The result meant that Warrington are 14th in the National League North table with 15 points from 12 games played, four above the drop zone and four below the playoffs. South Shields are 3rd, with 22 points from 12 games.

Also in the same league, we saw the division’s bottom club Darlington fall behind after just 19 seconds. King’s Lynn getting the ball up the left for Josh Barrett to run through and put the ball into the bottom right hand corner.

Darlo were level on 16 minutes after a cross came in from the left by Ben Hedley, met by Jacob Hazel to glance past the keeper for his second goal of the season.

It wasn’t long before King’s Lynn got back ahead, the 21st minute seeing Barrett run down the left, sent the ball into the six yard box, and went into the net through a group of players.

The away side very nearly made it 3-1 with Barrett looking to complete a hat trick, a free kick from 30 yards going past the post, then Stephens saw his effort tipped over the bar by Robson.

Darlington also had attempts of their own to get back in the game, but they just couldn’t get the leveller.

Darlington remain bottom of the table, with 7 points from 12 games, while, King’s Lynn sit 2-th with 11 points from the same amount of games played.
