With the end of the 2024/25 season fast approaching, football bettors will probably be pondering which sports they can wager on over the summer months.
While the 2025 Club World Cup will provide punters with plenty of betting opportunities, many fans may feel it will lack the excitement of their favourite leagues and tournaments.
Thankfully, the reputable sportsbooks listed at BestBettingSites.com will publish odds for next season within a few hours of the current campaign ending.
With that in mind, we take a ridiculously early look at the 2025/26 campaign to pinpoint six betting tips we believe you cannot afford to miss next season.
Arsenal – Premier League title
Arsenal are on course to finish second in the Premier League for the third successive year after failing to keep pace with Liverpool in this season’s title race.
Injuries have undoubtedly not helped the Gunners’ cause this term, while the club’s failure to sign a prolific striker has also negatively impacted their chances.
Arsenal have been linked with several top-class strikers including Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak.
If they can add a consistent goalscorer to their ranks this summer, Arsenal would be a good bet to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2003/04.
Aston Villa – Domestic cup winners
Since Aston Villa ditched former Liverpool midfielder Steve Gerrard as manager in October 2022, the club has been on a steep upward curve.
Unai Emery has done a tremendous job since replacing Gerrard, guiding them into the Europa Conference League in his first campaign and the Champions League at the end of last season.
Villa have enjoyed another productive season under Emery and could feasibly claim major silverware by winning the FA Cup.
Given that they will strengthen their squad again this summer, Villa should give punters a good run for their money in each of the domestic cups next season.
Burnley – Relegated from the Premier League
We are going out on a limb slightly with this prediction, as Burnley have yet to confirm they will be playing in the Premier League next season.
They are currently second in the Championship, level on points with Leeds United and five ahead of Sheffield United with four games remaining.
Assuming they grab one of the two automatic promotion places, the Clarets would be a banker bet to make an immediate return to the Championship at the end of next season.
They flopped on their last foray in the top flight and manager Scott Parker’s track record of failure at that level does not bode well for their survival chances.
Blackburn – Relegated from the Championship
Plenty of fans across English football think their club’s owners are clueless, but none of them have it quite as bad as supporters of Blackburn Rovers.
The litany of errors made by Indian poultry giants Venky’s since they acquired the club from the Walker Trust in November 2010 could fill a book.
Rovers have been truly woeful since manager John Eustace left the club for Derby County and was replaced by Valerian Ismael earlier this year.
With club bosses admitting that players will be sold and they will be shopping in the bargain basement this summer, Blackburn look set for a tough season in the Championship.
Huddersfield Town – Promotion from League One
Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has vowed to make plenty of changes at the club this summer, regardless of what happens during the rest of the season.
The Terriers sacked manager Michael Duff in March after a poor run of form and things have not improved since academy manager Jon Worthington took charge of the team.
While Town could still snatch a play-off place this season, they seem destined to miss out and spend another campaign in League One.
Nagle has made no secret of his desire to take Huddersfield back into the Championship and they are fancied to rectify matters by getting the job done next term.
Spain – World Cup winners
The expanded 48-team 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada will offer sports bettors a plethora of wagering opportunities when it is staged next summer.
France, Germany, Brazil and Argentina will all fancy their chances of adding to their previous successes in the prestigious tournament.
England are also prominent in the outright betting, but make limited appeal given their penchant for coming up short when the heat is on in major tournaments.
Spain appeal as the value bet to follow up their impressive success at the 2024 European Championship in Germany by being crowned world champions.
