Sheffield Wednesday confirm they have sacked their manager

Sheffield Wednesday have this evening confirmed that they have sacked first team manager Jos Luhukay after 11 months in charge.

He took over from Carlos Carvalhal who left the club for Swansea City in January but has only managed to win 16 times from 49 games, leaving them 18th in the Championship table.

Just last month, Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri was captured on video confronting Owls fans after they were defeated 4-0 by Norwich City.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY CLUB STATEMENT:

Sheffield Wednesday have parted company with manager Jos Luhukay by mutual consent.

Luhakay leaves Hillsborough with immediate effect.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri told swfc.co.uk: “I would like to place on record my thanks to Jos for the efforts he has given to Sheffield Wednesday.

“But now is the right time for both parties to move on and I wish him all the very best for the future.”

Coach Lee Bullen will take caretaker charge of the team until a new permanent manager is appointed.

The club will be making no further comment at this time.

Sheffield Wednesday fans gave their reaction to the sacking with the majority pleased, some even named who they wanted next – find out what they had to say on the next page.
