Sheffield United come into the game off the back of a five-game losing streak following a 1-0 defeat to West Brom last weekend.

The Blades, who have netted only four goals all season, could realistically have scored four on the night at The Hawthorns but wasted glorious chances in each half to take something from the game.

The Foxes followed up a 3-0 away loss to a depleted Liverpool with a shock 2-1 home defeat against Fulham last time out, seeing them slip to fourth place in the Premier League table.

Thursday’s 1-0 reverse at the hands of Zorya Luhansk was another blow, albeit in a game that saw Rodgers make mass changes with qualification to the last 32 of the Europa League already secured.

The two clubs last met in July where Leicester ran out 2-0 winners…

PRESS CONFERENCE:

Chris Wilder

Team news

Enda is close, we will give him the opportunity of being involved in the squad – will give him a couple more days, he’s worked well and been out on the grass and is working hard to be involved.

Ethan has trained and we’ll make a late decision on him. Getting back to where we need to be with everyone available but Enda and Ethan are the two big ones. Hopefully, they will come through training tomorrow and we’ll take it from there.

Is Lys fit enough to start?

I wouldn’t say so with the amount of time he’s been out.

He’s played very few games pre-season and has missed the first nine of the season but he’s getting there. Decent contribution at West Brom, he’ll be disappointed he didn’t finish that opportunity but his goals and assists are an important addition to what we need.

What type of week has it been?

We felt we did enough in the game at West Brom to get something, but we didn’t, so we have to look at ourselves.

We haven’t been clinical again and it’s not the first time that has been said. Back to work, no magic formula, work on skill-set, stick together and encourage the players to do what they can do and look at the next game for a big performance and result.

Seven of nine defeats by just one goal

With the PL and at this moment everyone sees the game live on TV, so will let everyone decide if it’s bad luck or not being clinical enough.

We have had enough possession, enough ball, on the front foot especially on Saturday night and yet that’s the position we are in.

We have not taken enough big moments in games – we had them at the start at West Brom, through the game and at the end. We have to go again and however that result comes we will take that as all teams would – West Brom took it – we deserved more from the game but we didn’t get it and that’s the cold facts of PL football.

We go again, I am a positive manager and we have a positive group.

Leicester up next – is it a good time to play them?

I am not looking at any results or fixtures, just got to concentrate on our group and getting a big performance – that’s what the PL is all about regardless of what Leicester have done this last month.

They are a powerful football club with a brilliant manager – the Thai influence over the years and they really are fast forwarding to break in to the top echelons of the PL – they have a manager there who can do that and some great players.

Five subs not brought up at last PL meeting?

If the vote goes against what I am looking to support I 100% accept that. If it wasn’t brought up it wasn’t, if it gets brought up in future meetings and managers and chief execs push for that and it goes to another vote and it gets voted, Chris Wilder and Sheffield United will accept that decision

Does Fulham’s victory give you confidence?

We have done that and can do, but we haven’t at the moment and I get that – we will look at Leicester and assess them regardless of what Fulham did there and the other big results this season.

This is the nature of the division and as much as I respect Brendan and his players I am 100% certain he is not looking at United as an absolute gimme looking at our performances because I don’t think there is an arrogance in this league – they have got to the top of this profession by being humble and recognising the next game is the toughest.

Do you have a points total?

Looking at next 28 games – got to win some games up to Christmas and in the last 20 split it into 10 and 10 and win some games in both of those.

It’s unlikely you will win seven or eight games on the bounce – who knows what points will be needed but that will pan out when we go through the season.

It’s just important we go into the next game believing we can win it – if we get a result on Sunday, it will not be the biggest upset the PL has seen but it will be an upset and we are capable of that – we have got to go and get on with it.

Would survival top promotion?

Yeah, from a club’s point of view and in my career as manager, this will be the biggest achievement.

From Basset in 1993-94, Neil Warnock’s year, you have seen how the division has taken off and how many times we have been in this division in our history – people will be critical and others will understand it, but there are times when you need to send a message to everybody of where we are at.

THATSAGOAL TIP:

Both Teams to Score – No – 19/20 with FanTeam

Yet another game where both teams are unlikely to score. Sheffield United have managed just four goals all season, the joint lowest in the league with Burnley who have played one game fewer at the time of writing. Despite being rock bottom, none other sides can claim to have conceded the same or more than the Blades.

Three of Leicester’s last five games have seen just one side score, including wins to nil over Wolves and Arsenal.
