Sheffield United player charged by police for drink-driving

It has been revealed this morning that Oli McBurnie has been charged with drink driving after a night out.

The 23 year old Sheffield United and Scotland striker was held by officers in the early hours of Friday morning in Leeds.

McBurnie has played in all of the Blades’ Premier League matches this season but sources say his inclusion in Monday’s team to face Arsenal at Bramall Lane is now in jeopardy.

He suffered injury to the knee in their 0-0 draw away to Watford on the 5th of October and hoped to make a return to the squad in time.

He was forced to miss the 4-0 defeat by Russia and then the 6-0 win against lowly San Marino in the international break.

McBurnie was seen in The Podger pub in Garforth, West Yorkshire on Thursday night.

One source added: “He left there and went on to the Wetherspoons nearby.

“After spending some time in the pub he left and was then pulled over by police officers who arrested him.”

He was taken to a nearby police station and charged with drink driving.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A 23-year-old Leeds Man will appear before magistrates next month after being charged with a drink driving offence.

“Oliver McBurnie, from Leeds, will appear before Leeds Magistrates Court on November 6 after being charged with driving over the prescribed limit in Leeds in the early hours of Friday October 18.”

After finding out that Oli McBurnie has been charged for drink-driving, fans took to give their thoughts with many disappointed and couldn’t understand why he couldn’t get a taxi – see those tweets on the next page.
