Semi pro footballer Mitchell Chapman says getting a 4-game ban was ‘so worth it’ for a tackle on a certain new Love Island contestant.
Mitchell Chapman has said that his four-game suspension for his challenge on Love Island’s Tyrique Hyde was worth it, in reaction to the announcement that he was going on the iTV show.
Hyde is the latest semi-professional player to switch life in non league football for the Love Island Villa.
However, a tackle he received while at Isthmian Premier League club Lewes has resurfaced and quickly gone viral.
Hyde was brought down by Cray Wanderers player Chapman amid heated scenes at Lewes’ Dripping Pan Stadium.
The Cray midfielder produced a lunge on Hyde as the pair chased after a loose ball by the touchline.
Chapman went in on Hyde with a two-footed tackle, sending him flying. The referee and Lewes players checked their injured player.
Chapman tweeted: “Four game ban was so worth it now,” in reply to Hyde’s announcement at joining the hit ITV show.

He signed for Lewes last season, going on to finish in 6th place but missed out on the playoffs on goal difference.
It’s likely to be a blow for the East Sussex outfit who could be left without Hyde for pre-season should he enjoy an extended run in the Love Island villa, and who knows, likes we’ve seen with previously footballers who had been on the show, could even leave football altogether after enjoying the fame and limelight.
Tyrique recently told Daily Star that he’s going to keep his steamy bedroom business under the sheets so that it’s hidden from the cameras – especially so his family don’t see what he’s getting up to.
Asked whether he’d have sex on the show, Tyrique said: “Obviously I’ve got a little sister and a mum at home, so it’s a bit of a sticky one.
“However, if I do really like someone and I have a connection with someone and it does feel right to have sex then I’m not against having sex. Put it that way.
“It’ll be under the cover so my mum and sister can’t see.”
He was questioned if he had received any help and advice from his mate Toby Aromolaran, a player who appeared on the 2021 series.
“He’s a close friend of mine,” he said. “Before I went, we sat down and we spoke and he literally said, ‘Just be yourself.
“If you try to be something you’re not, people are going to see through you. You’ve got a good personality, so just be yourself and you’ll smash it’.
“I didn’t really ask him any questions about how it’s gonna be or things like that, it’ll sort of ruin the experience for me, do you know what I mean? I wanted to go with the unknown.”
He isn’t a fan of name-droppers either, saying to The Sun: “I don’t really like when you’re talking to a girl and she’s just name-dropping it in two seconds.
“Just keep dropping people’s names in for no reason. I don’t really like that either, but other than that, I’m quite understanding like I said.”
Tyrique, admits that he has been single his “whole life” and doesn’t have a type.
“I don’t really have a type, I appreciate a pretty face. I feel like pretty comes in all shapes sizes races, you know.
“So I don’t really like to discriminate when it comes to, like, preference of type, but just someone that’s confident and pretty, you know, Not really too much to ask for.”
