Another footballer Tyrique Hyde signs up for Love Island ahead of its summer series, joining a long list of players to have done so.
The hit ITV series is about to start its newest season with a new group of singletons in the look out for love in a famous Majorcan Villa.
Tyrique Hyde will be among them, with the semi-professional footballer most recently turning out for Lewes in the Isthmian League. His former clubs include the likes of Colchester, Dagenham, Dartford, and Dulwich Hamlet, the Daily Star report.

After just missing out on a playoff place for 2022/23, Hyde tweeted: “Wasn’t meant to be today but we fought till the end & left it all out there! Massive thank you to my team mates, the coaching staff, the fans and anyone else connected with @LewesFCMen who have shown me nothing but love since the moment I arrived, been an absolute pleasure.”
Hyde now turns his attention to Love Island with his place in the villa confirmed on Monday morning, where he said: “I’ll bring vibes, confidence, good energy and honesty.
“I don’t sit on the fence, if I have an opinion I will speak up. I’m also not afraid to go after what I want.
“I’ve got a tattoo next to my left one [ear] that symbolises strength and power in my good one.” Meanwhile, his Twitter bio now just reads, “I’m off to find love in the @loveisland villa!”, suggesting his focus is fully on the villa and not his football career for now.
You may also know Hyde’s father, Micah, who played the Premier League and won promotion with Graham Taylor’s Watford in 1999.
He also played for Burnley and Peterborough after more than 250 Hornets appearances, then turned out in non league for Woking, Billericay Town, and St Albans City.
Hyde’s Dad chose to represent Jamaica internationally, and made 17 appearances between 2001-2004. And in 2020, he became the QPR Under-18s Manager.
The series gets underway on Monday, the 6th of June.
Ex-EFL turned non league footballer Tom Clare joined the 2023 cast of Love Island, leaving the club temporarily to go to South Africa.
Just weeks after announcing his split from Love Island GF Samie Eilish, Clare said he was making another major change in his life, revealing he’s made the tough decision to quit football altogether.
Tom, who had a contract with Macclesfield, posted on Instagram to thank the team and their owners, revealing he has ‘too many opportunities he cannot turn down’ in London.

He wrote: ‘@thesilkmen Where do I start… this club has been right behind me throughout everything, the most I’ve ever enjoyed my football has been at this special club, the good times are unmatched and we’ve created memories that I will remember for the rest of my life.
‘The decision for me to leave has been my decision and has been so tough, but now in my life there’s just too many opportunities that I just cannot turn down and moving down to London plays a huge part in that.
‘To @robbiesavage8 and @smethurst1 I thank you both for being there for me no matter what and for doing things off your own backs to help me is something I will never forget, two of the most passionate, genuine guys I’ve ever met, you guys deserve the best and I’m sure you will both go on to do great things❤️
‘To the fans I thank you for shouting my name week in week out, and getting the stadium bouncing every single game, you fans have been through a lot but the only way is up! keep supporting the lads and I will come to as many games as I can.
‘To the lads, I will miss the banter on and off the pitch🤣 you’re a top set of lads and it’s been one of the best changing rooms I’ve ever been in, I wish you all the best in your careers!
‘Football is my passion and has been in me since I could walk, I don’t see it as a job. For the time being I’m taking a step back to focus on other things, but I will never quit football and will keep myself is the best possible shape throughout all of this,
‘@thesilkmen Thankyou! #UTS 💙
