Sean Dyche sensed Everton bottling their 2-0 lead with Bournemouth producing a very late comeback to go and win 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
It was a new low for the Toffees as they left everyone inside Goodison Park shocked, collapsing in the closing stages of the game.
Everton went ahead on 50 minutes, a great finish from Michael Keane, as he slotted the ball into the bottom corner to put them ahead.
7 minutes later, Calvert-Lewin capped off a well-worked move and finished coolly past Kepa, it seemed like they were on course to their first Premier League victory of the season.
Bournemouth however came out of nowhere to snatch all the points, Antoine Semenyo started the comeback on 87 minutes with Everton losing their shape.
It was 2-2 when Lewis Cook headed home from close range two minutes into stoppage time.
Then on 96 minutes, after Jordan Pickford made saves from both Marcus Tavernier and Semenyo, Sinisterra found space to nod in Justin Kluivert’s cross.
Worse was to come, and Jordan Pickford had to make saves from both Marcus Tavernier and Semenyo before Sinisterra found space to nod in Justin Kluivert’s cross, with Everton’s players slumping on to the Goodison turf in disbelief.
Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: “We didn’t see the game through, simple as that. It was from not doing the hard yards, win your tackles and your races. Our body language said it all.
“We were in complete control, we know we didn’t take our chances. When they got one I could smell it in the air, not necesarilly that we would lose it but I felt we had not won it here.
“You have to see the game through. You have to play for every second of the game and if you don’t do that anomalies can happen.”
Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to MOTD: “We did so much right until they scored their first goal. I think they had one shot on target before then. The game should have been out of sight. We conceded one and then threw it away. I can’t put my finger on it right now.
“They kept raining it forward and got their reward in the end. The Premier League you have to play to the last breath of the game and we simply didn’t but they did. They were playing it forward and crossing it into the box and we didn’t deal with it. Simple stuff but we threw it away. It is the third game we have thrown away this season.
“You have to kill teams off at every level, but particularly at this level. Everyone was looking at someone else to deal with things and that is when there is trouble. You could see the body language change.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola: “A crazy, crazy game. If I’m being honest it’s probably not a game we deserved to win. I think they started to get tired. It was a huge game for us because next we play Chelsea (home) and Liverpool (away).
“It will help with confidence. We cannot forget what happened earlier in the game and we have to play better as a team. There are things we have to improve a lot.
“Everyone kept pushing – even the defenders – until the end. We were running out of energy. We have to give credit to the players.”

Here’s how Twitter users reacted as Sean Dyche says he sensed Everton bottling 2-0 lead with Bournemouth producing a late 3-2 comeback…
@mefc_b: Culpability on Dyche for this result, no need to make the subs he did and it changed the result for the worse
@newevolution911: The players did their job the manager never. Players get tired and the manager never helped them. What’s the point in a subs bench if you refuse to use them. Dyche fit or not players get tired. It is the job of the Manager to Manage the situation.
@firebobbynomore: Opposition – 5 fresh players chasing the game start to gain possession. Dyche-takes off the two players who’s hold up play and possession made for a straightforward 87 minutes and replaces them with players who’s first touch could easily be described as woeful. Result-defeat
@GraemeMcV: Certainly strong enough words. Whether the players are listening to him not sure. Massive 2 weeks for him. Needs everyone back, but that was unacceptable and rightly under pressure.
@cpsr1878:
Maybe:
– don’t take off our hardest working attacker for someone who is only good when he doesn’t have time to think
– don’t leave a 35 year old right back on the pitch, against a fresh winger, for 90 minutes after playing 0 minutes of league football this season
– resign?
@StuieHayllor: So when you say those at the top of the pitch stopped pressing, what you mean is Doucoure came on and we stopped doing what we’d been doing the whole game and as a result, the tied midfield and defence were exposed? The sub you made cost us the game?
@col3080: Having Sean Dyche as our manager just sums up where we are as a club!!
@xTanyax1878: Say it every week but I’d rather slit my ears off than listen to his excuses
@GrandOldTeamDan: Sick of him going on about before he was here too. Whether right or wrong, it’s hiding. You’ve been here 18 months fella.
@mick197811: 😂😂 we had enough chances to win. It was won you melon head. 2-0 in the 87th minute and you changed it.
@Jooxik: Maybe just maybe they stopped doing the basics because they was tired. Maybe try using the 5 subs your allowed to make and bring on replacements for Coleman etc
@Danny_EFC6: I back Dyche a lot. But that’s inexcusable. You’re well on top, chance after chance, you’re comfortable. And the changes you’ve made have just thrown 3pts against one of the worst teams goodison will see this year in the bin Villa away next, we NEEDED that win. For fucksake man. Think the fairest 1 word summary to sum up the changes, as many have said, is cowardly. Kill the game off, put it out of question, we were ALL OVER them. Can’t believe it
@Jim_Keoghan: Dyche might keep us up this season. But he could also be the reason we’re in a relegation fight. It’s like someone setting fire to your house who then turns up driving the fucking fire truck
@OfficialVizeh: Sean Dyche mate I don’t think you can survive this
@_luke1878_: I’ve defended dyche multiple times but honestly I wouldn’t be that bothered if he was sacked after that, genuinely terrible in-game management from a manager who’s meant to be good defensively!!
@phil180knight: Can’t believe what I’ve just watched, absolutely cruising looking great at 85 minuites. Then fell to pieces, it should have been 2-5, Pickford with a world class save and a good save in extra time. I’ve never seen anything like that before 😳
@JoeJennings9: Dyche has lost the crowd today…he simply can’t survive after that. Crying out for changes after 65-70 mins and he sat on his hands and watched the chaos unfold. Time to go. #EFC
@r4chaelc1878: If he’s not taking any responsibility for that clusterfuck then I don’t want to hear it.
@JoPoole_efc: Can’t even be arsed listening to him. GET HIM FUCKING GONE
@Modster1878: We lost because of your in game decisions & in particularly your poor substitutions. You can help the club financially by walking away instead of waiting to be sacked so you can fleece us by paying the remainder of your contract.
@Griffy99: Fuck off Dyche, you can blame the players all you like but that is on you #DycheOut
@bobbi_efc__: Fuck off asap
@lovelystuff1878: Could you ever se Everton under Dyche coming back from a 2-0 scoreline ? Genuinely fuck the cunt off .. I’ve had enough of him and his tactics
@ElliotGCollins: Get Sean out now and bring David moyes back
Absolute limbs from Bournemouth fans as they score 3 goals in the last 5 minutes to come from behind and beat Everton 3-2.
Unreal… 😍 pic.twitter.com/QOm4MNcrzu
