Scunthorpe’s newest signing says “I’m here to help get us out of this situation”, with the club in a relegation battle this season.
The 31-year-old defender Ben Richards-Everton is already looking forward to getting on the pitch with the Iron in the battle for points, in what he describes as a relentless league.
He joins on loan from fellow National League side Yeovil Town until the end of the season, becoming their ninth signing under new manager Jimmy Dean and chairman David Hilton.

Speaking after signing for the club, he told Iron Player: “I’m happy to be here. It’s difficult circumstances right now for the club and the position it’s in, but I’m here to try and help out to get us out of this position.”
Richards-Everton has played football across the English divisions in his career, with a League One spell at Accrington Stanley, as well as seasons in League Two with Stanley (winning promotion) and Bradford City too.
The experienced defender had also appeared 62 times for Barnet in the Vanarama National League before his switch to Yeovil Town in the summer.
Speaking on his career so far, Ben said: “I’m 31 now so I’m an experienced defender. Hopefully I can come in and help the boys get out of this situation and start winning games.
“I played with ‘Chappy’ (goalkeeper Aaron Chapman) at Accrington, we won the league there, so we’ve had some success with each other and hopefully we can have some more success together.”
Iron wing-back Reagan Ogle was also around at Accrington during Richards-Everton’s time, with the defender stating: “Reagan has always been a good player.
“He was more of a younger lad when I was there, and now he’s more of a first team player, so it’ll be nice to see Reagan as well.”
When asked if he knew any of the other lads within the camp, he explained: “I’ve probably played against them more so than knowing them personally.
“I played against a couple of the lads here at the minute, especially when in League Two.”
Richards-Everton joins United at a crucial point in the season with 16 games remaining to kickstart the season and lift the Iron in the league.
Speaking on his ambitions for the move, he revealed: “Win as many games as we can, stay in the league first and foremost, and game time.
“Like I said, with my experience, hopefully I can help the team and everybody else at Scunthorpe.”
He also continued by saying: “It’s a tough, relentless league. As we can see, it’s very, very difficult.
“You’ve got to be ready, and recover right. The games will just come thick and fast so we’ve got to be ready to get as many points as we can and get out of the situation.”
Finishing off by explaining his attributes as a defender, he said: “My size, I’m tall and I’ve got aerial dominance.
“I like to talk a lot on the pitch as well so hopefully I can help the guys around me.”
