Keane’s introduction in Manchester United’s ‘Legends of the North’ charity game with Liverpool was greeted with loud boos from home supporters.

74’ A fantastic chorus of boos for Roy Keane as he enters the pitch, not forgiven for those games back in the day.

The United icon was announced as a visiting squad member shortly before kick off, which ended 2-1 to the hosts following their 3-1 win at Old Trafford in May.
He replaced Darron Gibson on 75 minutes to a chorus of boos, however just stay on the pitch for very long, lasting just 15 minutes – admitting last month that he wasn’t fit enough.
Speaking to Off The Ball in August, he said: “I’m not fit. I’m far from fit. My fitness levels are actually very, very embarrassing.
“Just because I’ve not put on loads of weight doesn’t mean to say I’m fit. I wouldn’t really be able to do any running.
“Put it this way, I’ve been invited a number of times over the last few years to play legends games or whatever you want to call it.
“I’d find it really difficult because I wouldn’t be able to get around. Too many injury problems.
“I try to have a decent diet and I’m obviously weary about putting on too much weight.
“But I certainly wouldn’t be fit enough to go on any sort of run. I do a small bit of cycling but even that – I’m not exactly Sean Kelly.”

He also said he could handle a few boos, adding he’s used to it when turning up at various grounds.
The former Manchester United skipper went full-on classic Keano after turning down the chance to wear the captain’s armband for the final time.
To mark the moment, United legend Ronny Johnsen jogged over to the Irishman to hand him the captain’s armband, but Keane told him to do one. He shoved his former team-mate away before wryly shrugging his shoulders as if to say, ‘well, what did you expect?’ with a commentator on LFCTV saying “is that the most Roy Keane thing ever?”.
Man Utd legends took the lead when Dimitar Berbatov found the top corner on seven minutes. But second-half strikes from Mark Gonzalez and Florent Sinama Pongolle made it back-to-back defeats against Liverpool for the United Legends.
A whole host of former players were on display, including Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia and Jaap Stam. Liverpool, meanwhile, fielded the likes of Xabi Alonso, Martin Skrtel and Robbie Keane. You can check out the highlights below…
