Surprising news on Friday morning as Ross McCormack drops down the English football leagues pyramid to sign for a National League outfit.
McCormack started his career with Rangers in 2002, where he made few appearances and was loaned to Doncaster in January 2006. At the end of the season he was released by Rangers and joined Motherwell. Although his first season was disrupted by a long illness, he became a regular player and scorer in his second season there. In 2008, McCormack then joined Cardiff upon the expiry of his contract.
In 2010, he moved to Leeds for a fee of around £350,000, eventually becoming their captain. In the 2013–14 season, he was the Championship top scorer with 28 goals, prompting a transfer to Fulham in July 2014 for an undisclosed fee. He scored 42 goals in 100 competitive appearances over two years at Fulham, and was signed by Aston Villa for a £12 million fee. He fell out of favour with Villa boss Steve Bruce and was loaned to Nottingham Forest, Melbourne City, Central Coast Mariners and Motherwell before being released in 2019.
McCormack played ten times for Scotland U21s, scoring three goals, and he was also capped once for the Scotland B team. He made his full international debut for Scotland in 2008 and has been capped 13 times overall, scoring twice.

watched him over in the A-League, he still performed fantastically, thought he’d go back and play at a Championship/League 1 level. What a signing this could turn out to be

Thats is one hell of a signing. He was class for us, kept us up and was top scorer in the league in what would otherwise be a relegation season.

Such a shame how the latter years of his career panned out.
On his day for Leeds and Fulham he was a different class.
