Following the appointment of Brian Barry-Murphy as the new Rochdale first team manager, fans have taken to social media to give their reaction…
Tell him go with the youngsters….

Too early should of decide at the end of the season

100% the right decision, even if we get relegated. Not many managers would happily abide by our budgetary restrictions and BBM will maintain our youth team philosophy. Young, exciting and hungry manager! Chuffed!

Right decision in my eyes, even if we go down, he will maintain a happy squad and happy footballers play better football. It’s been clear over past 5 games… #upthedale

BBM's at the wheel

Tweets kept on coming and the mixed response continued…
Happy with this. Now let’s get fully behind BBM even if we don’t stay up and kick on next year #upthedale

Dave Whelan said: Im sure most if us could throw in a manager we would have preferred. But 90% wouldnt have taken the job and theres no guarantees the other 10% could have worked under the Rochdale conditions, Here we have a man who knows what its all about, he seems humble and really happy to be here.
He has made a good start, i know we will get behind him. It is such a hard job, so good luck to him.
John Groves wrote: There’s no doubt we had to go with him until the end of the season as he’s done well in his 4 games in charge but I don’t see why we had to appoint him permanently at this stage.
Adam Sutcliffe commented: Any new appointment is a gamble and yes he’s only had 4 games but no one can doubt that the players are responding to him. That puts him ahead of many other potential alternatives in my view. Good luck BBM, up the dale!
Peter Foster said: Dont see the point, 4 games and done ok against poor teams, think this should have been done at end of season with a few more games under his belt.
Lee Diggle suggested: There is a reason why an experienced manager is out of a job and it’s not because they did well. Get behind the board decision
Jonathan Lumb added: A couple of crazy comments already…..ok maybe should have made a decision at the end of the season when we knew which league we’ll be in BUT the club have appointed someone who has been with the club for a while & knows the club inside out…..surely better than appointing someone who doesn’t know the club & players we have!? All I can say is “happy days” & “good luck BBM!”
