Rival fans mock Jamie O’Hara over baffling Tottenham claim before Conte’s first game

Rival fans have took to mock former player turned pundit Jamie O’Hara over a baffling Tottenham claim before Antonio Conte’s first game.

O’Hara’s recent appearance on Sky Sports News has been criticised after he said that ‘Tottenham are back’ before they have even kicked a ball under the new manager.

In what’s been considered a great appointment for the North London outfit, Conte joined up with the side shortly after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Sancho on Monday.

Jamie O'Hara speaks to Sky Sports News about the appointment of Conte at Spurs

There is understandably optimism for the side who have underwhelmed this season, having registered five defeat and five wins in their opening ten Premier League games.

The appointment of someone the calibre of a title winning manager like Conte offers fresh hope for the side who have failed to win silverware for 13 years. And Harry Kane, who has failed to light up this season seems happy to stay at Tottenham and can’t wait to play under the 52 year old Italian.

Speaking about the arrival of the Italian boss – something which was confirmed by the club on Tuesday – O’Hara gave his thoughts.

The former Spurs player said to Sky Sports: “He is a leader. Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juve – absolutely fantastic. What I will say is: Arsenal, Leicester, West Ham – they are going to be worried, because Tottenham Hotspur are back now with a world-class manager at the helm.”

As mentioned, rival fans decided to mock Jamie O’Hara over his baffling Tottenham claim before Conte’s first game…

@AlwaysAGooner1: I generally don’t understand this thing with Tottenham. They’ve never been a top club. How can they be back?

@sverige1089: In order to be “back” you have to have been there in the first place…

@SizzleStevie: When you order Jamie Redknapp off Wish 😂

@MansfieldHammer: They had a world class manager in Jose. Time will tell on this. On the surface this looks a good appointment by them, but I suspect the relationship between Conte and Levy will sour before long. ⚒

@ryanarcher84: Why do you give this melt airtime 😂

@SoccercardsJW28: How many times have you been back now?

@DoomAndGloomFC: I’m more worried that you think Jamie O’Hara saying we’re going to be worried has got us worried.

@soccerdiva: Can someone please help me understand what they are back from? If this were Man Utd, I’d understand the term “they are back.” This rhetoric feels like a family member who brags about their big new house when really everyone knows they can’t even afford the mortgage.

@Chrisbax8: Jamie’s rio moment….

@ImRobM: The fact O’Hara hasn’t mentioned the likes of Man City, Chelsea & Liverpool here shows not even he believes they are “back.”

@shaunym94: This will be a meme in 18 months or less

@Pebe89: Think we can all agree this guys a massive helmet.

@Jay89R: Are back? I must of missed when they last arrived

@steviehammer: We live rent free in this bloke’s head I swear.

@blodge99: Embarrassed that he actually played for us 🤦‍♂️

@wcelhatton: Oh right, well if Jamie O’Hara from Talkshite says so then that’s sealed it

@EbukaMeansGreat: Bookmarking this for future banter

@shakeyI2015: I give him 5 months

@oj_speed: They haven’t played a game yet lad

@BlindBeggar337: Jamie’s been on the spice again 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@GameRiotArmy: unless you can replace like 90 percent of the players. Not too worried about Spurs

Conte revealed that he could not wait to show the players and the fans his ‘passion, mentality and determination’ for the rest of the season.

Conte said: “I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.

“Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world.

“I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach.

“Last summer our union did not happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season, so I felt that it wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching.

“But the contagious enthusiasm and determination of Daniel Levy in wanting to entrust me with this task had already hit the mark. Now that the opportunity has returned, I have chosen to take it with great conviction.”
