Reading posts viral video of person getting hit by bus then entering pub for Twitter promo

Reading posts a viral video of a person getting hit by a bus then getting up an entering a pub as part of their latest Twitter promo.

In 2017, new CCTV footage came to light, showing the shocking moment a male was struck by a bus on the street in Reading, but what happened was even more unbelievable.

The man, Simon Smith, can be seen getting knocked to the ground by the vehicle while walking along Gun Street, but incredibly, he was able to get back on his feet afterwards and suffered only bruising and walked into the pub afterwards.

Fast forward to today and the club have used the video as part of a promo with an event being held at that very pub, the Purple Turtle.

Even the BBC warn that the footage is distressing, but for the League One club to use it so casually for an event have led many stunned.

This time we arrive in Reading Town Centre with a forward thinking approach, as we get ready for the new campaign as one, with fresh hopes and aspirations ahead of Matchday 1.

We’ll be enjoying the sounds of a DJ and appearances of special guests, and with limited places available exclusively to Season Ticket holders, you’re not going to want to miss it!

Entry is for supporters aged 18 or over only, doors will open at 7pm and the evening will run until last orders. Tickets are just ยฃ9 per Season Ticket holder and they are on sale now using the following selling criteria:

I Get Knocked Down': Man Hit By Bus Gets Back Up Again And, 45% OFF

Instead of waiting for help, Simon picked himself up and walked into a nearby boozer

Back to the incident as seen at the top of this article now and a year after it, the bus driver who knocked the man down over when he lost control of his double-decker was handed a suspended jail sentence and a 24-month driving ban.

BBC News reported that Cheikh Daouda Senghor, 41, from St Johns Road, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, previously admitted dangerous driving on 24 June 2017.

A judge revealed that it was “a miracle” that the man who got knocked down was able to get up and walked away.

Reading Crown Court heard how the bus driver had been driving the number 17 service when he entered a chicane into Gun Street “quickly” and “lost control” of the vehicle, with the prosecutor stating that he “put his foot on the accelerator rather than the brake” in a response to “a movement on the bus”.

The bus then went onto the pavement and hit the man “square on” before coming to a stop, with the driver going straight to the person he just hit, who got up and walked into a bar.

He had two fractures to his shoulder and ribs, as well as some internal bruising. Incredibly lucky it wasn’t any worse than that.

Judge Paul Dugdale said: “It’s nothing short of a miracle that he was able to get up and walk into the Purple Turtle.

“It must have been quite shocking to him how close he came to really serious injury or worse that day.”

The judge said to the driver: “On this day you made a serious mistake when you were in a position of great responsibility.”

Defending the driver, Alex Dos Santos said the case was one of a misjudgement: “He accepts that it was his fault. It was a mistake on his part.

“Mr Senghor has lost his employment. He wanted to apologise to the victim and make amends where possible. He deeply regrets what occurred.”

Mr Dos Santos said while Senghor was going to the aid of Mr Smith, “someone decided to help themselves to his rucksack”, which contained his passport and other personal items.

Senghor received an eight month jail sentence, suspended for a year.

He was allowed to carry out 250 hours unpaid work and undergo a rehabilitation activity requirement for five days and made to take an extended driving test at the end of his ban.
