Reading post a cheeky TikTok video mocking Luton, Jack Wilshere’s side get booed off again after going on to lose 3-2 having been 2-1 up.
It was quite the finish at Kenilworth Road, Kelvin Ehibhatiomham scoring a first senior hat-trick of his career.
Nigel Lonwijk and George Saville had put the Hatters 2-1 up either side of half time, before Reading’s equaliser in the 81st minute when Ehibhatiomhan headed in Matt Ritchie’s cross after a defensive error.
Then three minutes later, Ehibhatiomhan grabbed Reading’s winner when Kal Naismith lost possession in his own box.
The result Luton 11th in League One with 47 points from 35 games played, 8 points from the playoff places. Reading are 7th with 54 points from 35 games played, a point from the playoff places.
Reading captioned their TikTok post: “POV: you’ve lost your head We’re with you GK 👊 #lutontown #readingfc #jamieohara #talksport”

Jack Wilshere said, per Luton Today: “It has to be (a win). In a game of that importance, we knew it going into the game, nobody cares and rightly so, we have to win the game and that’s that.
“There was some really good stuff, I thought we dominated a lot, but at any level you can’t give teams three goals and expect to get anything out of the game and that’s what happened today. Someone is walking away with a match ball and he’s probably touched the ball maybe four or five times and it hurts, it really hurts, because we knew the importance of this. I felt like the players did as well, but we have to be more consistent with it and we keep talking about it, but a difficult one to take.
“I haven’t watched them back as to be honest with you I don’t want to right now, but even after that (opening goal), I thought there was only one team in it. We have to just solve that situation much better, we have to deal with it, but then at 2-1 in the 80th minute maybe, there’s no way you can lose that game. You’re thinking okay they’re getting a little bit more momentum in the game and putting the ball in our box, but not really and it didn’t matter really with how we suffered and how we defended in those moments as we gave the ball away and gave them two goals.”

Hatters boss JW: “Kal will be all right. Kal’s a warrior, that’s why I love him so much. “I understand frustrations as well, but that’s what I love about him. He’s the first one to hold his hands up and be accountable, be accountable for the whole group as well.” 1/2. pic.twitter.com/wGjBWchH7L

On backing Kal Naismith following his mistake, Wilshere said, per Luton Today: “Kal will be all right. Kal’s a warrior, that’s why I love him so much.
“I understand frustrations as well, but that’s what I love about him. He’s the first one to hold his hands up and be accountable, be accountable for the whole group as well.
“He puts himself out, he talks in front of the press, he talks in front of the fans the other day. He takes some stuff as well, he’s a very resilient, I don’t want to say young man, but he is, he’s my age.
“He’s been through a lot in his career and he’ll be feeling down now, but he’ll be back.”
Reading coach James Beattie, who spoke to media, with Leam Richardson on a touchline ban, said: “It is a good job WhatsApp calls are free because we would have been going into hundreds of pounds.
“We had a clear way of communicating before the game and the lads had a clear game plan. It is not an easy place to come, and Luton are a good side. They were 11 unbeaten at home and we knew we were coming to a tough place.
“In any good away performance, you come and try to impose that on the game and quieten the home crowd down. We did that initially, but they got their tails up. Resilience and character from the boys has never been in question and they showed that in abundance.
“You are looking leaders on the pitch. We have experience, bringing subs on like Matt Ritchie, and then Kelvin is putting in performances like that- which is more like what his attributes should be like. It was a magnificent team performance.
“I’m really happy for Kelvin. He has been doing a lot of hard work with myself and the staff to step into that shirt. It’s a heavy shirt to carry for any club, with a lot of responsibility, but today he has shown in spells that he can do it. There is still a lot to work on, I don’t want him getting too carried away, but as an individual performance it was three magnificent finishes.
“Confidence is a massive part of it and unfortunately, I or you can just give someone confidence. It comes from how you train, how you sleep, how you fuel yourself and how you recover. You get confidence from your fitness and game understanding. 80 per cent of the game is in your mind and 20 per cent physical. How you feel about yourself and how you talk to yourself and handle the highs and the lows. I thought he conducted himself well. Jack has been in the team and scoring so he has had to be patient. It is a great way to start that.
“The Gaffer is big on that [value of subs]. Everyone in the squad is ultra important, even if they don’t think they are. It takes a whole team to be successful and in the last two weeks in particular the subs have helped. The Gaffer wants the subs to maintain the level or raise it and in the last two weeks they have been prepared physically and mentally. It is a massive credit to them.
“Matt’s experience speaks for itself. He plays a pivotal role in games and through the week with younger players. When he comes on, we want him to try and get more control of the ball, and he has the calm head. He can buy fouls and was one of the subs that went on and made a massive impact. We want everyone to feel valued and that they have a huge part to play in what is to come.”
Here’s how social media users reacted after Reading post a cheeky video mocking Luton, with Jack Wilshere’s side get booed off again…
@abboluton2: It was a bad look for a captain
@LTFC_Dave: Getting mocked by the most irrelevant club in the Football League. Ironically for a club called Reading, the amount of fans telling me “we’re bigger than you” as if bigger/relevant mean the same thing is quite something
@SirthomasVIII: funniest part is that we are actually bigger than you 😂
@claredoc76: For a club so irrelevant, we sure get a lot of attention from opposition fans when we beat them 🤣
@adamReadingFC: One season in the prem and they think they’re relevant 😭 #readingfc
@ltfc_rhys: its a new low every week with this club
@WAFCtabs: Hahahahahahahahaha super Kal Naismith – always been wank #wafc
@ltfc_rhys: worst captain we’ve ever had never his fault
