Reports have emerged on Tuesday morning, claiming that Reading manager Mark Bowen is set to be replaced – leaving their fans shocked and annoyed.
It comes after former chief executive Nigel Howe was removed from his position and replaced by Dayong Pang on Monday evening.
There is a strong possibility Bowen will also be removed from his role and revert to a position on the club’s board.

It was in March 2019 that Bowen came into the club as a technical director, before being promoted to sporting director last August.
He then replaced manager Jose Gomes last October, despite taking interviews with other candidates for the job, and went on to guide the club to a 14th place finish in the Championship table.
However, with the new season just around the corner, Bowen is now likely to become the Royals’ sporting director for a second time with a new manager in the hotseat at Madejski Stadium.
According to Berkshire Live, an announcement is expected by the club sooner rather than later.
A statement from the club said it was part of an ‘ongoing strategic review’.
Reading’s first league game of the season will be at Derby County on Saturday the 12th of September.

As soon as Bowen tries to bring in players to fit his play style and change his tactics a bit over pre season which is looking better anyways, we look to get a new manager to replace him. #ReadingFC

Is this a joke?
Just when Bowen finally wins me over, in comes a change. The most settled a Reading side has been since Stam and they change.
Wierd, just weird. Another turnover and you have to worry about them again next season #ReadingFC https://t.co/m89xzAV2f9

As much of a shock it seems to be replacing Bowen… the style and form under him post lockdown was so bad. Had the announcement come as soon as the season ended, no one would have been surprised #ReadingFC

I am in shock as to what has happened in the last 24 hours. This is something that has never happened before, a manager being promoted to manager from sporting director only for him to go back to that role? This replacement has to have a clear direction #readingfc https://t.co/WZh3IkyfJZ

Our club is a fucking joke. Bowen has just started to get his ideas together and now a new managers going to come in with no time to get his ideas across before the season starts. I look forward to league 1 football next season. Banter club #readingfc
