RadioTimes predict tomorrow’s PL Asia Trophy Semi Final matches

The Premier League Asia Trophy kicks off tomorrow with four teams from the top flight of English football battling it out to become champions of the competition this pre-season.

Those sides named are current league champions Manchester City, West Ham United, Newcastle United and for the first time Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The pre-season tournament is held every two years in Asia across two-days, forming in 2003, is “the only Premier League-affiliated competition” to be hosted outside England.and is taken place every other summer since then in order to avoid conflicting with the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.

Premier League Interim Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “We are delighted to be bringing the Premier League Asia Trophy to China this summer and playing in both Nanjing and Shanghai will be an exciting experience for the League and our clubs.

“The fans in Asia always offer us an extremely warm welcome and terrific support, and we look forward to seeing them in July.

“In Manchester City we have the reigning Premier League champions competing for the trophy, along with three other excellent clubs in Newcastle United, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“I have no doubt the fans can expect some competitive and thrilling Premier League action.”

RadioTimes do many a prediction, and have done so for this tournament’s matches. The Magpies face Wolves and the current champions of England – Man City – take on the Hammers for a place in the final on the 20th of July. A third place playoff game will also be played on the same day.
