Pure chaos as Bolton come from behind to beat Huddersfield with 93rd and 95th minute goals

There was pure chaos at the Accu Stadium as Bolton come from behind to beat Huddersfield with 93rd and 95th minute goals.

Chelsea loanee Leo Castledine produced a brilliant header to give Huddersfield an early lead, and it set to be the only goal of the game.

But Bolton went level thanks to Sam Dalby’s leaning header, then Amario Cozier-Duberry sealed a big three points for the Trotters.

Boos rang round the stadium from the Huddersfield fans, with their players sinking to their knees, in disbelief at what had just happened, while the away end went wild.

The result means ahead of the weekend’s fixtures, Bolton sit 7th place in the League One table with 20 points from 13 games played, while Huddersfield are 8th with 19 points from 12 games.

It is a first away win of the season for Bolton, moving to within just one point of the play-offs. Huddersfield have now made it back-to-back defeats.

Huddersfield Town defender Lynden Gooch added:

ā€œDisappointed. For 93 minutes, we had done really well. First half, I thought we played really well, with some great stuff, and deservedly led. Then second half, they came on really strong, and we had to defend, and dig in, and I thought we did that great, but you’ve got to see the game out obviously, and we didn’t do that, so yeah, we are bitterly disappointed.

ā€œWe know we needed to do better. Simple as that. It’s no good leading for 93 minutes of the game, and not seeing the game out, so that’s on us as a group of players, and the lads on the pitch, to see the game out.

ā€œWe didn’t, so we need to have a look at ourselves.ā€

Bolton Wanderers boss Steven Schumacher speaking to Sky Sports:

“We worked incredibly hard for what we got but I do feel we got what we deserved. They [Huddersfield] started the game really well and credit to them.

“They did something slightly different from how they build to what we prepared for and they got off to a good start and scored from a set-piece, which was disappointing for us.

“But the way we responded from that and regrouped together was great. We said to the players at half-time that they would get tired and their legs would go. I could feel and sense it.

“We passed the ball better in the second half and took over the game. We dominated it and got what we deserved. The players kept going and believing in what we were doing.

“We played with great energy and the subs who came off the bench made a huge impact and a large part of that was down to our fans. They were outstanding in the second half and I’m pleading with them to stick with us.

“We need the support because the lads really thrive off it. If we get that support and backing, we will give it 100 per cent every week, that’s guaranteed.”

Huddersfield Town boss Lee Grant speaking to Sky Sports:

“About as tough as you can get in terms of the finish to the game. It was about as brutal an end to a game as I think I’ve ever experienced if I’m really honest.

“Lots of anger, frustration and disappointment for a game that we really set about in the right fashion. We really went after it with the right level of intent, aggression and intensity in the first period.

“But in the second half we strayed way too far away from the things that gave us success in the first. Therein lies the lesson for us as a staff, group and individuals.

“We have to stay very close to the things that give us success and stick very tight to our principles. We strayed too far away from those in the second half which led to the finish that we got.”

Bolton Wanderers striker Sam Dalby speaking to Sky Sports:

“I think sometimes when you concede so early, it can be difficult.

“I felt like we had a few chances, enough to win the game and luckily the little man won it.

“I feel like we’ve got to repay them [the fans]. We’ve had some unlucky away runs and they’ve been there singing. We had to repay them.”

Bolton Wanderers winger Amario Cozier-Duberry speaking to Sky Sports:

“I’m proud. I’m buzzing, right now.

“The players, the staff, they are amazing. I couldn’t ask for more.

“I feel like it was pending. I feel like we’ve had a few unlucky away runs.”

Twitter users reacted to the pure chaos as Bolton come from behind to beat Huddersfield with 93rd and 95th minute goals…

@martycruscido: Keep your VAR, fanzones, falling over at a touch on the back, YouTube boners, Premier League brand nonsense. This is October, in League 1, two mid-table teams. This is why we love it and why we bother every single week. For these moments as real fans.

@__Matty10: Nothing better šŸ˜

@Ryanbfcf1: look at that, carnage.

@sqidgeman: Up there for best fans in country. This club doesn’t deserve us for the shite we see like last week. šŸ¤ #bwfc

@SkhTrains: Watching this over and over and over, absolute bedlam in there. That’s what it’s all about #bwfc

@LutonTownExile: Football eh? Magical. After having coins, whippets, and grandmothers’ breasts thrust at us a couple of years ago it really couldn’t have happened to a more deserving set of home fans.

@liam_omeara: Moments like this. The split second of silence before.

@JoshAS116: Need a petition to stop Sky cutting from the limbs 0.5 seconds after a goal

@Adam_PVFC: Limbs ruined by sky

@ficcypulpbwfc: May I say, whether i’ve argued or disagreed with you, you are the best fucking fanbase going biased or not. Passion from these lot carried the lads to keep going… 1-0 down and the fans were belting every song like it was their last. I’m proud of every single one of yous. #bwfc

@luke_bwfc: Atmosphere was top notch tonight too, behind for most of the game but nonstop singing all night. šŸ‘

@LivoAaron: Y are sky so allergic to limbs

@sherratt1876: Great away end that. Would loved to have seen the looks on the Huddersfield gobshites faces in that end when that went in 🤣

@bwfcjgreen92: Our players don’t deserve the level of support the fans give them. Always travelling in their 1000s week in week out to watch soft as shit performances. #bwfc

@BoothyP: I’m loving the fact we are getting massive credit for the scenes in that away end after both goals. But why on earth do they [Sky] not put the cameras on the fans straight away?? Every neutral wants to see that chaos not the players #bwfc
