Progress of Wrexham’s new Kop stand continues as a video emerges of the incredible work site as of June 2026.
Wrexham AFC Fanzone spoke concrete pours, rebar installation, formwork and demolition, and why the Kop is now even bigger than originally planned.
Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson said, as per The Leader, that supporters will be extremely proud of new Kop Stand after waiting patiently for The Racecourse to be restored.
He added that the new Kop Stand is set to open for the start of the 2027-28 campaign but it is hoped to be in use for a limited amount of fans towards the end of 2026/27.
Wrexham give update on their new stand as part of ambitious stadium expansion
Wrexham AFC Fanzone said in their latest video update: “With the first Under-19 European Championship game against Spain taking place tonight, it’s worth remembering that the original hope was for the new Kop stand to be open in time for the tournament.
“Unfortunately, a change to the design along with delays surrounding the new electrical substation meant construction started later than planned and that target couldn’t be met.
“When the plans were first unveiled back in 2022, the aim was to have the stand ready for the summer of 2026.
“However, the project ran into a number of hurdles, including planning issues and funding delays, which pushed everything back.
“As those delays continued, the club took the opportunity to go one step further.
“Rather than sticking with the original design, they submitted revised plans to increase the capacity by an extra 2,250 seats.
“That would take the new Kop from 5,500 seats to 7,750, creating a much bigger and more iconic stand that should serve the club for many years to come.”

Social media users reacted to the progress of Wrexham’s new Kop stand as a video emerges of the incredible work site as of June 2026…
@FPLren: wow thats going up quick
@adlgator86: Looking incredible! Can’t wait to see the finished product! 😲👏🏻😃
@Aidan1864: Lower tier looking like it’s gonna be some distance away from the pitch there?
@KieranCallum29_: Why is it still miles away from the pitch??
Ian Jones: Imagine the view of Wrexham and the surrounding area will be from the top. 2nd best view after the football.
Dan Owen Kearsley: What a dream it would be to say i was sat in them seats when they opened it for the first time
Marcus Blase: Wow, now they’ve eventually started, it shows what can be done when you roll your sleeves up – I’ll never understand what the delay was for the last couple of years.
Jack Welshman: Marcus Blase, Raising £70Million in a responsible manner takes time, the unpredictable “success” on the field determines when, where and how to invest. Planning is still a challenge I’m so disappointed with the council. I totally understand residents frustration but why aren’t the council trying to find solutions they are embarrassing the local economy has grown by £140Million per annum. They are behaving like neanderthal non entrepreneurial restrictive power control freaks, again they are embarrassing.
Trevor Armstrong: Marcus Blase, hell of a lot of groundwork went in – substructure needed core drilling, rebar and concrete time to set. Then the actual foundation work and concrete pours with more rebar. This takes a lot of prep even after the planning applications have gone through. This is not a small project, it is built to latest standards with continual risk assessments.
Steve Davies: The Kop is going to be Amazing, thanks to Rob & Ryan
Chris Pride: Getting Premier League ready for ‘27-‘28
Billy Burns: Will it be opened in time for the first Wrexham home match in the Premier League next season?
Paul Wright: Wow great drone footage I have to say I’m privileged that I’m the chef at Wrexham and have to say when you are pitch side looking up it does send a shiver down your spine I can’t explain the feeling you get even in an empty stadium but something is definitely there
Melissa Murray: I can’t believe how much has changed in the month I’ve not been in Wrexham. Looks amazing already!
John Morris: I know it will be some years but I can’t wait until the rest of the ground matches it.
George Biagi: Spectacular! Great owners, awesome fans, wonderful community. You deserve this, Wrexham! #UpTheTown
James Castro: The ROAR from this section will be like none ever heard at the Racecourse.
Mark Standeven: A lot of work has progressed in the last 10 days….. thanks to the hard work and efforts made by the guys on the ground 👏👏!
Paul Asia: Seating 7500 and cost £70 million. The size of it compared to the rest of the ground. Money where their mouth is to be fair, and proof they ain’t going anywhere. 👏
Kevin Neil: The vision and imagination of these guys is amazing. What you see isn’t just an incredible football stadium. The two towers yiu see are telelecom towers built into the stand because telecoms in north Wales are poor and hold back north Wales in terms of business development. So Ryan and Rob are fixing it bringing new jobs to Wrexham and North Wales. Football club owners who don’t just bring an amazing football club to the city. They bring jobs and life opportunities to all of North Wales and Chester.
