Big news and an early crowd pleaser as West Ham United announce they are to launch a club crest fan consultation.
Plenty of changes going on at the Hammers at they prepare for life back in the second tier for the first time since the 2011–12 season.
One of those changes, long urged for by fans, is the club crest, many wanting to revert back to include the castle and to drop ‘London’ from the logo.
Should a change happen, and the Fan Advisory Board as well as season ticket holders all agree on a new design, the crest will implemented by the 2028-29 season.

A statement on the club website read:
West Ham United is pleased to inform supporters of the launch of a new fan consultation on the future direction of the Club’s official crest.
On the anniversary of the formation of Thames Ironworks FC in 1895 the Club can confirm that a full and comprehensive supporter-led process will soon begin to ensure its world-famous crest best reflects the Club’s unique heritage, identity and culture.
The consultation will commence with a detailed discussion with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and, should they provide positive feedback, a further consultation will take place with a wider group of supporters. This will include all:
2026/27 Season Ticket Holders (for men’s and women’s teams)
2026/27 Claret Members
Supporters who attended more than five home matches in the 2025/26 season
The consultation process will run throughout the 2026/27 season and any changes will come into effect for the start of the 2028/29 season to allow appropriate time for manufacturing and production deadlines. This extended period will also ensure sufficient time for a thorough review, with supporter feedback at its core and the FAB playing a significant and independent role throughout.
The current version of the crest was launched to coincide with the Club’s move to London Stadium in 2016. The FAB will be asked for their view on the crest’s future direction, before further consultation with the wider supporter group. The Club will then create new design concepts based on any feedback, with a vote by the supporter groups mentioned above to determine the final preferred choice.
West Ham United Interim Chief Executive Officer Karim Virani said: “With 2026 marking ten years since our current crest was launched, now is the right time for us to review its future. The Board and I want to ensure that the Club’s history and heritage are appropriately reflected in everything we do, and that our loyal fans should play a leading role in determining how that is delivered. To that end, we will ensure any change is supporter-led and we will be working with the FAB as an independent body every step of the way.
“I look forward to working with them and the wider supporter base as we embark on this exciting project.”
The Club will provide regular updates for supporters throughout the consultation process.

Here’s how fans reacted, an early crowd pleaser as West Ham United launch a club crest fan consultation…
@WHUdownunder: Woah this is a step in the right direction
@HamImages: Whoa! That’s big news and an early crowd pleaser for the new regime. First thing you’ll hear is get “London” off the badge, or add “East”.
@WestHam_Central: Kretinsky, Virani and team doing everything right so far 👏 keep it up
@TheSuperBadDad: From fans taking steps in protest against the board, to seeing a new regime taking steps to engage us… early days, but 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
@whufc_tobe: The last version of the crest. Don’t want to hear “the castles were from Upton Park and we’re not there anymore”. Our badge should reflect our history, and it’s the best iteration we’ve ever had.
@HollambyAlfie: Upton park crest, bring it back
@Natnatgoodaz: Things we love to see! We want our castle back ⚒️
@whuscott: Fair play 👏 new ownership actually seems to be listening
@ZaynafamilyMary: What a brilliant refreshing and positive action by the club. Working with FAB and consulting the fans on a crest we can all get behind once again. No controversy over wording. United on and off the pitch that’s how it should be. Bravo! ❤️⚒️ 🫧
@rickwhufc: Great way to get the fans on board, early easy win for DK and I’m very happy the way things are going, feels like we’re finally getting our club back
@BradWhiting94: Wow. So strange to see the club attempting to do things that we’ve been asking for. Very refreshing to see!
@JamieMoore76: No more London, give us our castle back, and ditch that bloody god awful font they pinched from MS Word! So happy this is happening, new beginnings for us all hopefully 🙏❤️⚒️
@_WestHamReport: Just bring back the old badge. Look deeply into the history of previous badges. There are at least 6 separate intricate details within 1 badge of previous designs and for a design from 1999 it’s very much modern to today. It was way ahead of its time only normalised by history.
@BabblingIrons: This is fantastic news. It was always an easy win to announce that there would be changes to the crest that is a symbol of the failed corporate rebranding KB tried. Great to hear that there is going to be detailed & comprehensive consultation as well, giving fans a voice ⚒️
The club is healing, the club is listening.
Fuck @karren_brady and Sullivan and the shit they bought to the club. Time to move on. First step, get the crest back ⚒️ pic.twitter.com/PnJhA7vDqY

Bring the original castle back to life or just the X Hammers.
No Disney Castle please. pic.twitter.com/E06EbRFQ3G

Don’t overcomplicated it. Either bring back the old one or have crossed hammers with flat colours, no modern fonts and no London tag pic.twitter.com/O2bFtsvmKL

Would you prefer West Ham just went back to our old badge, or had a slightly revised version for a new era of the club?
Personally like something like the one on the right if we were to go for a new style, but would also be happy just reverting back. pic.twitter.com/QKzYWzcxUr

A project of mine that gained significant attention from West Ham fans far and wide!https://t.co/uRaXtPqjY3https://t.co/wezrbb34hlhttps://t.co/1oulBlJxGM

My 2 choices for the West Ham crest, many want a Disney Castle back, but the one on the left was used by players in the 1950s on their blazers, a true representation rather than a fantasy world castle.
The 2nd is to embrace the bowl, the legacy, the future. https://t.co/zdk4CWu3Mj pic.twitter.com/FhVLWA33ZK
