STATEMENT:
Port Vale FC are delighted to announce that striker, Jayden Stockley, has agreed a two-year deal with The Valiants, subject to EFL and FA approval.
Stockley, 30, joins Darren Mooreโs side following eighteen months with Fleetwood Town FC and becomes the Gafferโs third signing of the summer.
Stockley began his career as an academy prospect of AFC Bournemouth and would go on to make his professional debut for The Cherries in a Football League Trophy fixture against Northampton Town at the age of sixteen, Bournemouthโs then second-youngest player to appear professionally for the club.
A fruitful loan stint with Exeter City would set up a permanent transfer to Scottish Premiership side, Aberdeen, where he remained for a season before making the decision to join The Grecians on a permanent basis.
36 goals in 66 games for the Devonshire side earned Jayden a move to Championship outfit, Preston North End. He would spend two seasons in Lancashire before seeing his loan deal turn permanent at Charlton Athletic where he would score 31 goals 89 games for The Adicks prior to moving to Fleetwood Town permanently in January 2023.
Throughout his time with the Cod Army, the experienced striker scored thirteen goals and created ten assists across all competitions; claiming the clubโs top scorer award in the 2023/24 season.
Speaking of his latest summer signing, Port Vale Manager, Darren Moore, said:
โJayden is an experienced striker with a proven track record of scoring goals and will add an aggressive, combative and quality dynamic to our final third.
โHe is another player who sets himself the highest standards both on and off the pitch and will be a real role model to the younger players in our squad.
โI am absolutely delighted to welcome Jayden to Vale Park and we are all looking forward to working closely with him next season.โ
Interviewer: Jayden welcome to Port Vale you’ve agreed a deal that sees you here under Darren Moore as our striker how does it feel to get it over the line?
Jayden: I’m extremely excited to be it’s something that’s been in the pipeline for a few weeks now once you get down to it you wondering if it’s going to happen or not uh but very excited to be here and uh very determined for for the season ahead
Interviewer: what was it about Port Vale that made you want to to come here and and and you know play under Darren Moore what was it about this?
Jayden: I think it was the club, the club as a whole I’ve played against Port Vale for many years now seems you know been around around the block for many years so it’s I remember playing against the side in League Two a lot especially when I was at Exeter all those years ago and uh it was the fan base that encourage me to to sign here for a club that’s passionate for a club that’s determined to get back to to League One and progress in the division so the added bonus of the assistant manager I’ve got a very good relationship with and and the manager who I know previously as well has just added to that and uh and has made me really determined to come and sign here
Interviewer: You mentioned that you’ve been around the block you people know exactly who you are know exactly what you bring does that add pressure to you or is that something that makes you thrive because people are expecting a goal scorer, you are a goal scorer, does that add pressure or does that make you push on?
Jayden: No it’s the expectation that I love it’s that’s your job as a striker to to score goals I have done so my whole career obviously go through spells of that that are more successful than others but I managed to always keep the goal record you know in in good form throughout my career and it’s something that I’ll be looking to provide at Port Vale in the years to come
Interviewer: Whilst last season for you obviously Fleetwood wasn’t wasn’t how anyone expected very similar situation here and for you personally you did finish as their top scorer as well which shows even in the toughest of times you are able to still find the net and create those chances as well
Jayden: I think so I think from the especially from the turn of the year uh from the January onwards you know looking at at my numbers in terms of goals and assists were right up there with 17 goal contributions last season uh so it was it was a it was a number that was definitely up there in in terms of goal contributions in the league and something that I’ll be looking to improve on this year and and bump my numbers up scored 20 plus goals in three different seasons in my career so I’ll be looking to do that again hopefully throughout the duration of my time that I spend at Port Vale I’ll be looking to do that each season so it’s something that I put added pressure on myself but Port Vale wouldn’t be signing me if they weren’t expecting the same thing
Interviewer: You mentioned the key word there goals aside from goals, what can Vale fans expect to see from you whilst wearing that shirt
Jayden: I think just yeah 100% commitment I think if you if you ask the clubs that have been at before that’s something that are always going to provide the club respect the shirt respect the fans and and give them maximum effort try and bring everyone together in the changing room be a good lad be someone that the young players look up to, they need an example example of a of a good Pro and I hopefully I can provide that and I’ll always be that hopefully that link to the fans someone that they can relate to especially on the pitch and watch
Interviewer: You mentioned there, somebody that players can look up to the younger players we’ve got a number of younger players that are coming up through the academy ourselves young Bailey he’s obviously played in the Euros recently plays up front he’ll be looking at somebody like you is that is that somewhere where you think as well as on the pitch off the pitch you can help these players to grow and look at you and look at the career you’ve had successful career across the board, you mentioned that the goals you don’t struggle to find the net it’s giving them that confidence that this is what I’ve done and this is how you could recreate it is that is that something that you kind of look forward to as well
Jayden: Yeah I think so I think I was very young on the scene if you asked Bradders about that I I burst onto the scene at Bournemouth at 15/16 and played very young and there was mistakes that I made at that age that I’m hoping that I can give a bit of advice to those younger players that are in the situation that I was um I think someone that you can to an approach I mean I’m approaching 500 games this season and they can talk to me outside of football about anything that they need whether that’s a you know a text message away from away from football or me up for a coffee I’m uh I’m hopefully that guy that can uh can speak to the young lads and and give them as much advice on the pitch and then once we get past that white line I’m going to help them I’m going to talk them through the game and then hopefully bring the best out of them as well
Interviewer: We’re about a week away from everybody being back in the building for preseason to start you looking forward to you looking forward to meeting your teammates and getting going
Jayden: I am yes it’s lonely running on your own preseason so it’d be good for a few lads to run with it’s uh going to going to be a job to gel the squad quickly together I know they’ve kept the nucleus of players here and adding a few more so it’s going to be good for the the new lads to integrate within the team and um there’s a few lads that I know already here through many battles that I’ve had against this club and excited to get going team bonding’s going to be a huge one camaraderie for from the whole club moving forward and getting that link between the fans and the and the team that they want on the pitch to show them that we are mean business this year

@arnoldmark13: Good signing we are developing a strong spine add a commanding CH and we should be ok.
@richlees85: Feels like a bit like when we signed Proctor, but with more of a league 2 history of goals. Good signing and the kind of player we need
@LaceNorris: I think his record last time he was in league 2 speaks volumes…. what a signing that is….. โค๏ธ
@KarenPVFC: Welcome to Vale Park, all the best!

@TRFC1980: Decent that lads ๐๐
@JayPVFC: Another fantastic signing. It can be very frustrating when other teams are making signings and we arenโt but very clear we are going quality over quantity. After the recruitment from hell last year we have to get it right, 3 brilliant players through the door already #PVFC
@ftfcRedford: You lot and Fleetwood players eh. Wish him the best of luck
@Cafc1507: Good luck lads ๐๐๐
@bunting_luca: You lot are in for a surprise with him and not a pleasant one
@George_pvfc: Canโt knock DM so far, going about his business well. All 3 signings are proven at this level, seem to be building a squad capable of challenging towards the top end of L2 if we continue with this sort of recruitment #pvfc
@StandingAlone77: God damn man, the Vale are going for it. Going to be right up there with signings like Curtis, Croasdale and now Stockley, as much as it pains me to say it.
@Pine_PVFC: tell you what – 3 proper high profile statement signings for the level so far ๐ช
@jasesherratt: Superb signing that. Well done Vale ๐๐๐ welcome, Jayden ๐ค๐ค๐ช๐
@tom_kenny84: I like this a lot. Scored everywhere he’s been and especially prolific in L2.
@tyler_braddick: Smart signing from Port Vale. Stockley got 17 goal contributions last season, and has scored 36 goals in his last 69 appearances at League 2 level. Should be a good signing at this level.
@ValiantAJJ: Come home from work and see this stunning news. HMS piss the league
@AmberAdams567: Yes Keep Them Coming Vale ๐๐ผ
@dan_boulton: A proven striker. Well done Vale ๐
@Rich_for_peru: Moore quietly building a decent team yet again.
@PicardyBreezer: Might be that weโve only seen three signings so far, but theyโve been very very good. Iโd much rather this than sign a load of dross at double the quantity.
@CraigNeild: ๐คฏ Absolute banging signing that is!!! Heโs a monster who will win everything in the air. Got to make sure we set up to play to his strengths.
@JJLozzer: Now THAT is a striker! #pvfc
17 goal contributions last season. 36 goals in his last 69 appearances at League 2 level
Jayden Stockley is about as proven as it gets. At 30 you still feel heโs got a lot to give as well
Itโs not Ruari Paton, but itโs still a really good forward signing you have to say ๐ https://t.co/3kr0RFXyyi
