With a 3-1 win over Portsmouth, Plymouth returned to the top table of League One.
Argyle, who went into this game with just one win from their four previous matches, took the lead through Sam Cosgrove at the 24th minute. Finn Azaz grabbed the second 20-minute mark.
Portsmouth threatened to make a comeback after Reeco Hackett Fairchild scored in the 79th minute, but Ryan Hardie made sure of all three points in stoppage time.
“I was a bit nervous there for a few minutes, thinking here we go again,” Steven Schumacher told Argyle TV. “It feels like every time we play Pompey, that’s what happens.
“They end up launching loads of balls into your box. Raggett comes up and looks like a goal threat. They should start him up front every time they play against us! I was a bit worried, but I thought we played really well. We probably should have scored a couple of more of the chances, but the keeper made a couple of great saves. I’m just glad that we got over the line and got three points that we probably deserved.
“With the two centre forwards on the pitch – Ryan and Sam – and Callum Wright in behind, he’s just class, always seems to pick the right pass. Mikel Miller on one wing, who you know was going to create opportunities for people.
“With the energy that we had in the team, I felt we would create chances. I felt in the first half it was probably an even game, but we probably created the clear opportunities. Felt we maybe could have had a penalty, but we didn’t get it.
“We ended up going in 1-0, edged it maybe in the first half, and then the second half we started brilliantly, and if we had scored earlier it might have been an easier afternoon, but it took us a while to get the second goal. Then, unfortunately, we conceded from a set play, which makes everyone nervous.
“Ryan took his goal brilliantly for the third one, and it was game over. Thank God!”

“I actually thought we were the better side overall in the first 45 minutes, but without creating a huge amount.
“We were unlucky to come in behind at the break because we had a great opportunity when Joe Morrell broke through just before they scored.
“Against sides like this, if you don’t take advantage of those opportunities, then you can suddenly find yourselves 1-0 down.
“The message at half-time was very positive, but Plymouth were then on top for the next 20 or so minutes and it took going further behind for us to get back in the game.
“We were perhaps unfortunate not to get another goal, but we can’t wait until we find ourselves in that position to turn the screw.
“I thought it was probably a deserved victory for Plymouth in the end, although there were still some positives in there for us.
“Number one is that we didn’t go under and we saw some good performances in there, among others that weren’t so good.
“The substitutes also made a real impact for us, in particular the three who came on earlier. Paddy Lane and Dane Scarlett looked dangerous and Reeco got the goal.”
