Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony ‘laughs out loud’ at a League Two player’s demands, now the summer transfer window is shut.
An unnamed striker has got a lot of people talking after his agent listed what was expected in a proposed deal to the newly promoted side.
“This player wanted £5k per week in the Championship or £9k per week in the Premier League,” Darragh MacAnthony revealed, via Peterborough Telegraph. “And on top of those wages he had the audacity to want a £1 million release fee.
“There are a lot of League One clubs looking at him, but he scored eight goals last season and he’s a one-goal-in-six striker, and he’s playing in League Two, and he’s had a bad time for 18 months.
“I couldn’t stop laughing about it, but then that’s the market for strikers for you.
“I hope whoever agrees to those demands doesn’t regret it.”
Meanwhile, the deadline day signing of Conor Coventry from West Ham on loan for the rest of the season is said to have secured a ‘great’ summer transfer window for the Posh as far as Darragh MacAnthony was concerned.

The player scored seven goals in 21 games as captain of the Hammers’ U23s team last year, and now looks forward to a campaign under manager Darren Ferguson.
Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has stated that the club received ‘insulting’ offers for centre forward Jonson Clarke-Harris on deadline day.
“Keeping Jonson and Siriki is huge,” Fry said. “We have a far better chance of staying in the Championship with them than without them.
“We did receive offers for Jonson, but they were insultingly low so he was never going anywhere. Siriki has already shown he will be a handful at Championship level.
“We were prepared to let Idris leave on loan and several deals were set up, but for one reason or another they all fell through.”
Clarke-Harris himself reckons he can return from the international break stronger, fitter and faster, whilst also planning to start scoring goals.
The last time he put the ball into the back of the net came with that controversial penalty in the promotion-clinching home draw against Lincoln City on the 1st of May.

He played 95 minutes that day with a grade three tear in his calf, something that usually means a 12-week recovery period.
He didn’t have much time off in the summer, and played just 45 minutes of pre-season.
“The international break came at the perfect time for me,” Clarke-Harris, who could face a ban if an FA charge of abusive historical social media comments is upheld, stated. “I should come back fitter and quicker and hopefully when I get my first goal I will be up and running. I didn’t score in the first month of last season so I’m glad August is out of the way now.
“I didn’t really have any time off in the summer. I just had to keep on working. I was injured going into that Lincoln game and I really struggled. The most I moved was after I scored the penalty and adrenaline kicked in.
“I always want to play and help the team. That’s just who I am. I always put points before my goals and it will be the same this season.
“We’ve done okay so far. We’ve gone to-to-tie with some big hitters and shown we are capable of making things happen in this competition, We just need to make sure we concentrate for 90 minutes.”
The Cambridgeshire outfit currently sit 19th in the Championship table, picking up four points from five games played.
