Pep Guardiola reveals what he said in heated scenes with Vicente Guaita at full time in the game between Crystal Palace and Man City.
The Spaniard manager was seen in heated scenes with the Eagles shot-stopper after Manchester City dropped two crucial points at Selhurst Park to blow the title race wide open.
The reigning Premier League champions failed to score despite dominating the ball with 74 per cent of possession in South London.

Man City produced 18 shots but just four of these tested Guaita, who played a valuable role in Palace’s clean sheet, showing calmness especially when the visitors up the pressure in the second half.
Guardiola was of course frustrated at the full time whistle as the stalemate means title rivals Liverpool are now just four points behind with a game in hand, namely a clash with Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Guaita was confronted as the teams shook hands and was seen gesturing emphatically towards Pep, although the topic of their conversation was not audible at the time.
Despite his exchange with the goalkeeper and the disappointing result, Guardiola insisted he was “very pleased” with his side’s performance in his post-match interview.
“We play a really good game. In 90 minutes we concede mistakes a little bit, but the way we played was really good,” Guardiola told BBC Sport.
“Luck doesn’t exist in football. We have to score goals and we didn’t do it. We played to score goals and concede few. We struggled a little bit.
“The guys who were playing were playing good, that’s why I didn’t make changes. We didn’t score, that was the mistake.
“The team that was there today was there before and will be there in the next game. I am very pleased with the performance and the way we played.”
What did Guardiola say to Guaita?
Well, according to the Man City boss himself, he was apparently “congratulating him for an incredible effort and his saves.”
It is a rather a strange way of doing that but he has done it before.
We’ve seen Guardiola do this with opposition players at full time in the past – here’s one time he wwent viral with Nathan Redmond after Southampton’s visit to the Etihad during the 2017/18 campaign…

Twitter users reacted as Pep Guardiola reveals what he said in heated scenes with Vicente Guaita at full time in the game between Crystal Palace and Man City…
@Phillyconcarne: I like Pep but he can fuck off. I’ve seen his City team with all their money come here and waste time, take it to the corner, all the dark arts. Funnily enough I’m sure Guaita doesn’t give a shit what he thinks about it, we’ve just taken 4 points off City without conceding a goal
@carefreekriscfc: Pep angry cos he bottled a massive lead 🤣👌🏼
@CfcKailash: Baldy cant take it 😂😂
@IanKelly1987: Peps angry because team a team sat deep and defended well against his team 🙄
@RoDuSu: Guardiola really doesn’t like it when teams slow the game down. What does he expect a team like Palace to do? Go quicker so his side can recover possession sooner and create more chances? He should focus on his own side’s wastefulness.
@TomQuinn__: ‘Did you not receive your brown envelope?’
@lfc_carper: Translation Pep ‘didn’t you get that money posted into your account? You were supposed to let the ball in!’
@ezwar_: Hahahahahahahahahahaha he’s really asking him why he didn’t let the ball go in
@6Thiagoat: Hes fully rattled 💀 wtf is he moaning about
@Mason_1892: Mans moaning about someone doing his job 💀💀💀💀💀
@gazbod: Tell him Vinny 🤣😂 ❤️💙 #CPFC
@Crozzy1971: He’s a salty melt.
@OneSizeFitz89: Pep complaining at Guaita for doing his job. 😅
@rebekkarnold: Pep kicking off at Vicente Guaita after the game because he saved all of City’s shots 😂
