Pep Guardiola gets mocked by a fan as he arrives at Brentford amid reports he’s split from his wife after 30 years together.
He made his way into the Gtech Community Stadium, focused on continuing trying to turn their form around following a poor run, including just one win in 13 in all competitions, while winning three on the bounce going into Tuesday’s game.
However, it’s been a tough time for Pep, this week, reports surfaced that he was splitting with his wife Cristina Serra.
He was reminded of that by one individual in the crowd of people watching the City team arrive at Brentford, while the manager, staff and players made their way towards the dressing-room, one fan could be heard shouting out: ‘How’s the Mrs, Pep? How’s the Mrs?’
Guardiola didn’t react to the shout from onlookers, and instead made his way into the stadium as normal. But the shout was caught on video, heard loud and clear.
Brentford fans were also said to chanted “Kyle Walker, he’s shagging your wife”, towards Pep during the game.

@geordiegaz83: Tough guy shouting from 50m away trying to make his mates laugh
The game played out to a thrilling ending, Christian Norgaard with a last-minute equaliser to help Brentford come from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Man City;, Yoane Wissa had pulled goal back after Phil Foden’s second-half double.
Man City head coach Pep Guardiola: “What I missed today was that we didn’t take the right decisions in the final third, when the actions were that we could run. We were winning long balls and could run with them, but we didn’t make the right decisions.
“I like the way Brentford play, today we created a lot and we’ve come here many times and they’ve had more chances than us.
“At 2-0 we had to close it out, but we don’t have a specific player to defend a result in the box – we have to do it with the ball, create and control in the final third.”
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank to TNT Sport: “I just said to the players in there that I was extremely happy and proud of the performance. I think this is the first time in four years that over the 90 minutes, we go toe-to-toe with a top-three club.
“I think Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have been the best three clubs in the four years we have been in the Premier League so the ability and the mindset to do that, the bravery throughout the game, extremely proud of that and of course coming back from 2-0 down is a fantastic mentality.
“I’m Very happy. I would have been happy with the performance still but the feeling is a little bit better after you get something out of it.”

Pep Guardiola’s eldest daughter, Maria, spoke in a Spanish magazine interview which was published around the same time her Mum and Dad’s breakup: “My parents have always advised me to find what I am passionate about.
“They encourage me to try new things, to accept failure and to keep searching until I find my calling, because when I do, full dedication will come naturally. They also remind me that the most important thing in life is to love and be loved.
To Vanity Fair Spain, she added: “In the end it all comes down to feeling loved. Even in situations where we feel out of place, they tell me to listen carefully to others, there is always something valuable to learn from each person we meet.”
Maria goes on to say: “My father was already playing when I was born. All our movements have focused on his career, first as a player and then as a coach.
“Soccer has shaped much of our family’s journey. In many ways, my family and I owe our lives and opportunities to this sport and, of course, to my father’s exceptional talent and passion.”
Admitting to inheriting her dad’s ‘stubbornness’ she added: “When we set our minds to something, we pursue it with tunnel vision until we achieve it.”
She says there is a sense of family harmony despite the break-up, that she’s a huge fan of her mum by saying she had inherited her “confidence and sense of independence” and adds: “She is very elegant and even influenced my father’s way of dressing.
“Her passion for work was what got me interested in fashion. If I ever launch my own brand, she will be my reference, she is incredibly talented.”
Neither Pep or his wife have spoke of their split, revealed on Monday night by journalist Laura Vazquez, though close friend was quoted yesterday as claiming their marriage ended because Pep is a “total workaholic.”
Maria, who has two siblings, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17, is believed to have been interviewed after her parents took the decision to end their relationship.
“I feel incredibly grateful for the experiences I have had. Although it was challenging at times, my parents facilitated the transitions and helped me take advantage of opportunities.”
On her dad’s decision to take a year out of coaching and move to New York following his departure from Barcelona in 2012: “For me Barcelona means family and football, incredible memories, pure happiness. The decision to leave was due to the desire to spend more time with family.
“Given the frenetic pace of my parents’ careers, we didn’t get to see each other much. So we went to New York for a year to be together and learn English. It was an unforgettable experience.”

The Spanish journalist who broke the news of Pep and Cristina’s marriage split said there was no “third person.”
Lorena Vazquez said: “It’s been a carefully-considered decision the couple discussed over several months. They continue to have a cordial and affectionate relationship. No-one else is involved. There are no third parties. We are going to carry on seeing them together.
“They weren’t expecting any journalists or media outlets would confirm this break-up but I can assure you they’re living apart and only a small handful of people knew about this.”
