VIDEO: Fans furious after Ben Pearson escapes red for leg breaker tackle on Josh Onomah

Pearson leg breaker tackle Onomah – let’s talk about it – fans have been left furious after Ben Pearson escaped getting a red card for his horrifying tackle on Josh Onomah last night.

The shocking challenge came after just half an hour into Preston North End‘s match against Fulham with Denis Odoi already sent off for wiping out a Preston centre-back.

Ben Pearson was given a yellow (his 6th in 19 matches) for his wild challenge on Onomah, leading to supporters slamming the player but also referee Keith Stroud.

Sky Sports reporter Neil Mellor said on the incident: “It was a really strong challenge on Onomah, didn’t look a pretty challenge.

“The referee was really well positioned, he took his time, he got a yellow card out instead of a red.

“Preston don’t really need to be doing anything like that, any unnecessary fouls to even things up against 10 man Fulham…”

Alex Neil said on Pearson after the game: “I didn’t think it was that bad at the time but having seen it back it was a poor challenge and I have spoken to him about that after the game.”

Minutes after Pearson was carded, Joe Rafferty was given his marching orders for an awful tackle on Joe Bryan.

Paul Huntington, Alan Browne, Brad Potts and Josh Onomah also was given yellow cards during what ended up being a fierce battle for the three points.

That went to the Lilywhites thanks to goals from Sean Maguire on the 23rd minute and David Nugent on the 52nd minute. Aleksandar Mitrovic made it a more tense finish but getting a consolation for the Cottagers with 10 minutes left to play.

Preston currently sit 6th in the Championship table and Fulham stay third but after now 10 points adrift of second place West Brom.
