Bamber Bridge appoint Jamie Milligan as the club’s new manager and it’s certainly gone down a hit with the non league community.
The Northern Premier League Premier Division strugglers will be the former footballer’s first job of his managerial career.

The club said: “Bamber Bridge FC have this evening [Tuesday] announced that Jamie Milligan has been appointed to the post of first team manager following the departure last week of Joey Collins.
“The 39 year old former Blackpool, Fleetwood and Everton midfielder has accepted the post with immediate effect.
“Jamie is a very familiar face to the Irongate faithful having spent a number of seasons at Brig as a player and coach, including being part of the promotion winning side of 2017/18. He also scored the opening goal for Brig in the 2-1 victory over Grantham Town in the 2017 League Cup final.
“Joining Jamie in the dugout will be another former Blackpool defender, John Hills. In addition to Blackpool, John had spells with Fleetwood and AFC Fylde, where he was later a member of the coaching staff. Most recently as caretaker boss following the departure of Dave Challinor.
“The first game for the new management team will be this Saturday (14 December) when Brig head to the east coast to face Whitby Town in the league.
“Welcome back Jamie and welcome John.”
Milligan will be hoping to guide Brig away from the relegation zone, which they’re four points ahead of, and up the table in what is shaping up to be an incredibly tough league.
There is just nine points before the leaders South Shields and the manager’s former club Hyde United who sit 10th.
After finding out that Bamber Bridge appoint Jamie Milligan, fans and Trevor Sinclair took to express their delight and wish him luck – see those tweets on the next page.
