CLUB STATEMENT:
An agreement has been reached with Paddy Madden for the forward to join the Spireites on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Stockport County.
The 34-year-old has made over 650 career appearances to date and lifted the League Two title in the season just finished, scoring 22 goals during the campaign.
Madden has played for a number of clubs including Fleetwood Town, Scunthorpe United and Carlisle United.
After agreeing a deal which is subject to approval from the relevant authorities, Madden said: โIโm buzzing to get the deal done. Itโs a massive club that Iโve always enjoyed playing against. The supporters have always followed the club fantastically.
โAs soon as Paul [Cook] rang me, I knew I wanted to come and play for him and the club. Heโs always been a brilliant manager.
โObviously I won League Two with Stockport last season but who knows, whatโs to say we canโt do it again.
โFootball is about winning and I want to win football games, thatโs what this club and manager do.
โIโm so excited to be here and I canโt wait to get going.โ
Kane Drummond became the first signing of the summer last week after agreeing to join the Spireites upon the expiry of his contract at Macclesfield.

@SpireTweet: Madden signs. He had interest from other clubs, including Blackpool as well as a deal offered by Stockport. The 2 year deal no doubt helped swing it. Another good attacking option next season. Despite being at the latter end of his career, still scoring goals year on year.

Paddy Madden signs for Chesterfield on a 2 year deal ๐ณ
Huge early signing from #Spireites. Not only did Paddy Madden have a good return last season, but he hit form at the right time too
2 year deal at 34 is obvs a slight risk, but given his winning experience, itโs worth it https://t.co/tE9MCRA5Jd pic.twitter.com/PWpUgXhY1N
