Stockport County players and fans mock Wrexham with a chant and a plane banner as they celebrate beating them to the League Two title.
Stockport clinched the top spot in the fourth tier, finishing four points ahead of Wrexham, but despite losing 2-1 to the Welsh outfit on the final day of the season, Stockport was in the party mood regardless.
The team celebrated their league success at the Racecourse Ground from chants upon arrival and during the game, while putting a message on a flag and even got a plane to fly a banner over the stadium.
The plane banner read “SCFC Champions Again Ole Ole”, doing circles over the Racecourse Ground.
They then had a parade in the town, where both players and fans were heard singing a chant directed at Wrexham.
Stockport’s Paddy Madden tried to wind up the Wrexham fans and players when he was making his way into the ground on Saturday.
“F*** you Wrexham, we’ve only gone and won the league” was one chant sang on the bus at the Hatters’ parade.
Fucking state of them 🤣🤣🤣

Stockport have flown a(nother) plane over the Racecourse celebrating winning League Two over Wrexham ahead of today’s match. “SCFC Champions Again Ole Ole”. The plane has made about five loops over the stadium – fiery! pic.twitter.com/Fl6ab19FUA

Your owners need to stop giving it the big one, everyone is stick of it, you aren’t the best team in the league, we’ve humbled you twice now and you still don’t get the message hence why we have to keep reminding you. A lot of your fans find it amusing, they don’t get rattled. pic.twitter.com/TynA1NtsaK

Stockport County players & fans celebrate League 2 title by chanting, “F**k you, Wrexham, we’ve gone and won the league!” during open-top bus parade. Could be some tasty meetings between these two in League 1 next season. 🍿pic.twitter.com/pakWXCNKWj

A clip resurfaced online at the weekend, showing Stockport County boss Dave Challinor filmed singing “f*** you Wrexham” in 2022 after pipping Wrexham to the National League title…
For me it is, why comment about us on something that’s going round the whole world? That’s my take, if you want anyone else’s then ask them, I can’t speak for a whole fanbase. I comment because you lot need to pipe down, we keep beating you to league trophies, deal with it pic.twitter.com/krMiZmqcUv

The game itself saw Wrexham toasted promotion to League One with a final-day win over the League Two champions Stockport.
Connor Lemonheigh-Evans put the visitors ahead with a low finish in the first half before Ollie Palmer equalised two minutes after the break to pick up the mood among home fans.
With two minutes left, Andy Cannon then netted from close range to seal a win which saw the hosts finish second in League Two.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said: “I’m obviously pleased. Five wins to finish the season is great from the lads, we’ve had some tough games as well with Crewe away and today when the job had been done, but it was important that we finished the season well.
“We spoke last week about rewarding our away travelling army, and we’ve got a very proud record at the STōK Cae Ras, so we wanted to finish the season off in style against a very good side and we were able to do that with an excellent second-half display.
“There’s a lot of pride within the Club from our supporters, the players and all the staff.
“In the first half we still had some good moments, but we were a bit slack in possession and gave the ball away cheaply. We said to the lads that despite not being anywhere near our best we still had some good moments, but we needed to improve in terms of our quality on the ball.
“We really upped our game in the second period, Ollie (Palmer) scored a great goal with a really good finish and what a fantastic moment for everybody when Andy Cannon has finished off in great style.
“It was a great move – Maxy (Max Cleworth) has joined in and created that overload on the right-hand side, something that we encourage him to do.
“I still think that there is so much more to come because he is so good in forward areas. It was a great pass and what a finish from Andy to finish the season.
“It’s been a terrific season. There was a little bit of a slow start for various reasons as we took a while to adjust, and then we gradually found our feet with a few setbacks along the way.
“I think in the National League, the season that we got promoted, we were almost spoilt with the amount of wins that we had.
“This is the reality of a promotion season; you’re going to get setbacks and get defeats as there are some good teams in this league, but it is how you respond as a group and that is the key to the season really.
“We’ve been beaten, we’ve found solutions, moved onto the next game quickly and not let a slump last too long. That has been a key element in our success this season.”
This is how fans reacted as Stockport mock Wrexham with a chant and a plane banner as they celebrate beating them to the title…
@JeffTom07932410: 😂 we beat them last game of season if Mullin was fit and the tour hadn’t taken so much out of us we would have won hands down but let them have their day. I hear your end of season tours to Rhyl.😂
@Wrexhamed: Singing about Wrexham 🤣🤣
@spencer_178: Aye yea apparently you’re not obsessed though
@mallers01: Why oh why is it about us? Just enjoy your day in the sunshine! It’s probably driven by Challinor’s Chester roots and his deep rooted bitterness 😲🤣
@jonnyGTFC: Proper club congrats 👏
@hoyageorge: Wrexham: Living rent free in your crowded studio apartment heads since 2020. It’s hilarious you can’t even celebrate your own success with Wrexham looming over you, bless your hearts.
@PheenytheBelsh: Strange very strange.
@Evan_Mer: This is just weird! No class, no humility. The behaviour of their manager and players is borderline to bringing the game into disrepute. Wrexham were never in the title race with them, Wxm were promoted & had beaten them only the day before. Strange, sad behaviour. we’ll get there…
@Mrsc1416: I’m hearing a lot of rattles! 🤣🤣 UP THE HATTERS 🔵 ⚪️
@HelenOa09466663: This is so embarrassing . 🙈
@TheABDegen: Enjoy it while it lasts, kids. Wrexham is a wagon and you won’t be able to compete with their resources.
@jclemensky: So they’re taunting another team that also was promoted? Weird.
@introUZIvert: After they just got embarrassed by wrexham yesterday lmao
@galaxycoachb: If the goal is promotion and both teams got promoted who cares where you finish. Saw Wrexham had some great things to say about a team then after the game. Oh and they owned them this year in both meetings!
@campbellde: I’m on the periphery of the Wrexham bandwagon, like many. One observation is that Wrexham have been gracious when speaking of other teams, win or lose. Seems like Wrexham have really gotten under Stockport’s skin.
@elmston: A club that actually *earned* promotion, congrats to the Hatters!
@Papahuate17: They just won the league and they’re worried about the team behind em lmao
@DavidMo78790767: Deservedly champions, acquired some good players but you can’t buy class and humility. On the other hand a guard of honour and standing ovation at the racecourse 🤔 UTST
@mdemarco410: Even when they think they’re making it about them it’s still all us 🤣
@nicklearsew: I love it they came to see us, home fans could pack all 4 sides every match.
@rubylou9: If Mulls had been firing on all cylinders at the start of the season, they’d be eating out dust. We gave them a bloody head start! Nice to see them come to the Cae Ras and lose!
@MartinH60898912: How much money did they just waste on that unhealthy obsession! 😂😂😂
@gavinfrance: The effort, it’s so flattering. They’re just next season’s Notts County.
@Riccishacks: It’s fucking brilliant.. Football banter at its best right there..
@jrwilliams32: first set of opposition fans to remember rob tbf🤣🤣
@wasUESH: Embarrassing
@Sf91205: I mean 10/10 for effort
@WrexhamSunny147: Sad 😂
