Oxford boss Karl Robinson has been left upset and angered by what Plymouth Argyle did after the full time whistle at Home Park.
Fourth-placed Pilgrims strengthened their League One playoff hopes with a 1-0 win over the promotion-chasing rivals U’s on Saturday afternoon.
Skipper Joe Edwards volleyed Plymouth into the lead on 56 minutes and then keeper Michael Cooper had to make a superb stop in the 8th minute with an outstretched leg to prevent Gavin Whyte from scoring after being played in by Billy Bodin.
Oxford United boss Karl Robinson was left unimpressed after what he saw from the home side come full time but scenes from Steven Schumacher and his players, where they walk around the pitch after the final whistle to applaud the Green Army is a usual one for home fans and nothing different on this occasion as can be seen in the video tweet below…
This has become a traditional according to Plymouth Live after a home win for the Pilgrims, with Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’ being played out over the PA system.
Robinson, who was already rather angry with Oxford not getting a spot kick in the first half when the game was still at 0-0, made his feelings clear after the match.
He suggested his side can use what Plymouth did at full time as extra motivation if the two sides come face to face in the playoffs this summer.
Another giant step closer.

Robinson said: “We just had the dressing room door open to listen to their celebrations. We’ll be seeing these again, itâs no problem with me.
“We turn the music off when weâre up against teams that weâre playing against because you donât want to rile people. This might be a Wembley (play-off) game.”
He added: âItâs about my players, I only care about my club. Sometimes you need to respect other teams a little bit more because weâre a good team, with generally good morals.
âItâs in the filing cabinet this, and Iâm sure itâll be coming out sooner rather than later.â
He added: “The penalty is onside by so much, the ladâs nowhere near and heâs smashed him. Itâs a sending off and a penalty.”
Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher was left delighted after his side made it six home wins on the bounce without conceding.
âThat was very nice,â he said after the game.
âI am super proud of the boys.
âIt was a tough game.
âOxford are the leading scorers in the division, theyâve got unbelievable talent in their forward line and create some unbelievable chances.
âWe needed our âkeeper once again to make an unbelievable save in the first half.
âWe had Steven Sessegnon fail a fitness test this morning, we had Alfie Lewis have a reoccurrence of his thigh injury.
âWe didnât let that faze us and it shows the character of the boys that they just get on with it.â
âWe phoned Lawsy this morning to say he was going to play. Hs was ready and performed brilliantly,â Steven said.
âDan Scarr looked great, apart from a minute at the start of the game when he stood on the ball.
âI could go through so many of them today, James Wilson, Dan Scarr, Panutche were all flawless â different class.
âEveryone is confident, weâre in a good spot, made up with the win but grounded as well because we have another game next week to focus on.
He said on the shot-stopper’s block from Whyte’s effort: âI donât know how he kept it out, but he did.
âI was watching the Liverpool game before the game, with Hughesy, and Alisson made a brilliant save one minute and then Liverpool scored.
âBig teams have âkeepers that pull off big saves and Coops is just that for us.â
Schumacher went on: âThe games are getting ticked off and thankfully we are still picking up points, as are others.
âWeâre not too far away from the sides in front of us, we have a bit of a gap to the sides below us, so weâll just keep going.â
There was plenty of reaction as Oxford boss Karl Robinson gets upset by what Plymouth did after the full time whistle…
@SirStamRaffles: So pleased the people of Plymouth dont need to turn their taps on this week. The tears of the Oxford manager Karl Robinson will keep us going for a while. Bitter cry baby. #pafc #oufc
@StevieWotsa: Tell Karl @OUFCOfficial that the blow up doll is underneath the concourse of the barn park end đ
@Pafc_James: Bit weird
@yu_xal: Cry more
@NikPAFC: Absolute weirdo.
@M_dubzz: Heâll get over it! It gets under visiting mangerâs skins when they lose at Argyle! Even Ainsworth complimented us last week!!
@js_utba: Very odd behaviour
@CarlBarnard15: So they donât go around the pitch and thank the fans then? You celebrate wins the last time I checked. Loud music? I guess heâs never invited to partyâs, not surprised. Idiot.
@GilbsMark: Celebration was no different than any other other game. We are punching above our weight in this division budget wise, and if people donât like that, tough . Oxford were a decent side but created little .
@TimCotton81: Should tell him heâs nothing special and we celebrate every win like that!
@AndyHil98359433: Filling under loss!!!!!
@CornishBankie: We celebrate every win like that. Officials were bad for both sides. Just so happens we got the rub of the green this time. As for diving? C’mon on Karl. Your boys where at it. Should be a bit more gratious in defeat in what was a good entertaining battle.
@AndyAlderney7: Very odd take on a team celebrating a big win
@kimburt10: Weâve literally celebrated the last 4-5 home games exactly the same. Purely because of the play off push not because of any single team weâve played. #pafc #oufc
@AdamVR1510: I suppose Karl Robinson doesnât know what it feels like to beat us this season?!? Always had a bit of respect for him, thatâs now gone! Oxford would celebrate the same way if they had beaten a promotion rival! #pafc #oufc
@M4ttF0g: A true whopper.
@ManorUpthe: Why should Plymouth not celebrate a win!? They have every right to. Deflection tactics in the media, rather than actually talking about his team’s performance.
@cameokerton: Hahahahaha heâs rattled, ARGYLE ARE MASSIVE EVERYWHERE WE GOOOOOOO
@STB_93: I like Karl Robinson but why would he give a fuck how we celebrate a win in a massive game? Iâm sure if Oxford had won they would have done the same.
