Now it’s West Ham’s turn to cause anger over ticket prices for opening game

Now it’s West Ham’s turn to cause anger over ticket prices for their opening Premier League game against Man City next month.

Despite putting season ticket prices up under the promise of keeping matchday football affordable for those without enough points for a season ticket, West Ham increase matchday prices by almost 20% during a cost of living crisis.

This comes days after Fulham were criticised with £100 the top price for the opening league game of the season against Liverpool while it’s £90 to be cramped in the Johnny Haynes stand. See more on that HERE.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Tickets for our unmissable 2022/23 season opener against Manchester City are on sale now – with Claret Members able to get £5 off their tickets if they buy before 11am on Wednesday!

The Hammers welcome the Premier League champions to London Stadium on Sunday 7 August looking to build on last season’s positive home results against Pep Guardiola’s men and get the campaign off to a flyer in front of 62,500 fans.

David Moyes’ men knocked the Citizens out of the Carabao Cup in a dramatic penalty shootout victory in east London last term, before playing out a thrilling 2-2 draw in our final home game of the season, in which Jarrod Bowen scored twice and Łukasz Fabiański saved a Riyad Mahrez penalty.

Now it’s West Ham’s turn to cause anger over ticket prices for the opening game against Man City…

@BaxtersSoup: Everything that is wrong with the modern game!

@pjennings73pj: Those prices are an utter disgrace. Where are families or a grandparent who wants to take their grandchild or children to the match supposed to find that kind of cash.

@Pipfinch1: The game is ruined

@Chris_Mills_: Can we stop saying we have the cheapest season tickets. We have a few hundred terrible band 5 and 6 seats that are cheap. The rest of the bands average out in the top 6. Don’t forget we rent an athletics stadium on the cheap so these prices stink. Not everyone can go every game

@TrevChapmanNFFC: Piss take!!!

@RANGERS_1983: £55 minimum for a pensioner to attend a premier league game is disgusting. There is absolutely no need for that.

@dan31604340: Cost of living crisis clearly doesn’t impact West Ham fans at those prices 😂

@burgo1987: Mad to be paying £55 to sit up with the pigeons. Horrendous pricing!!

@jaymeeteewhu98: Ridiculous prices. Should be ashamed with yourselves @WestHam @davidgold ⚒🫧

@ajarv19: Horrific prices – bloody hell @WestHam!

@GaryAPrince: Family of four from £220, 👍 Are the billionaire owners still committed to affordable football?

@dan31604340: Band 1-3 adult and 3yr olds same price 🤣

@RobboSWA: Charging a kid the same as a Adult/ O65 is nuts hahahaha fucking awful

@smokyblacon1: If you can afford this with the current situation get me a job where you work

@fez_1892: What used to be a working class sport is slowly disappearing, absolute disgusting prices

@stillwhufc: I never get the way they do banding. You pay £100 to see us potentially get smashed by City but it’s only £50 to see up probably beat Fulham. I know what I would rather see 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️. Shouldn’t it be the other way round 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Daveyswallow: What’s the point in having different age tickets when they all the same price 🤣🤣🤣

@mehlman_tony: That’s why I hardly ever go, premier league prices are a disgrace

@JamieHoskins15: Thing is there must be 50k season ticket holders so once you throw in the away allocation and there isn’t too many for the club to make money against. I’m not for one minute saying it’s right, it’s disgusting & sums them crooks in charge up. Just trying to add context #GSBOUT

@Dannywhufcfrost: The owners never ever surprise me anymore disgusting amount to be charging fans

@SamJT13: This is disgraceful given how far some of these seats are from the pitch @WestHam

@NeilTaylor60: Poor show. On our group we give tickets away to hammers who can’t afford to go. To see this is proper disappointing #Hammersforworkandsupport
