Norwich City sack their manager Daniel Farke after they picked up their first win in 20 Premier League games on Saturday afternoon.
His side picked up their first Premier League win of the season at the 11th time of asking by beating Brentford to move off the bottom of the table.
The Canaries made a dream start when Mathias Normann slotted in from the edge of the area after a good run.
Norwich City can confirm that head coach Daniel Farke has left the club with immediate effect.

It was the first time Norwich had been ahead in a league game this season, although only a superb save from Tim Krul to deny Christian Norgaard from point-blank range prevented Brentford from quickly drawing level.
It proved a crucial save because Norwich doubled their lead midway through the first half when Teemu Pukki was brought down inside the box by Charlie Goode. The Finland striker stepped up to score the penalty.
It prompted scenes of jubilation in the away end, with the travelling fans seeing their side score two goals for the first time in 29 Premier League games.
But they endured a nervous second half as Brentford put on the pressure. Bryan Mbeumo had a goal ruled out for offside before Rico Henry volleyed home to make it 2-1.
Krul superbly kept out Sergi Canos’ fierce drive as the home side pushed for an equaliser, but the visitors held out for a precious win.
The three points moved Norwich above Newcastle – who play Brighton later on Saturday – into 19th place and five points from safety. Brentford, meanwhile, are 14th.
CLUB STATEMENT:
Norwich City can confirm that head coach Daniel Farke has left the club with immediate effect.
Daniel departs Carrow Road having overseen 208 competitive games at the helm across a four-and-a-half-year spell.
He joined the club in the summer of 2017, guiding City to a 14th-place finish in the Sky Bet Championship in his opening season in England.
The 2018/19 season was a memorable one, as Daniel’s side claimed the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.
After a season in the Premier League, a second Championship league title followed in the 2020/21 campaign, as City accumulated a club record 97 points, securing a return to the top-flight at the first attempt.
Backroom staff members Eddie Riemer, Chris Domogalla and Christopher John have all also left the club.
Sporting director Stuart Webber said: “In continuing to demand the very best for our football club, this decision was not an easy one.
“I know how determined Daniel and his staff were to succeed at this level, but we feel that now is the right time for a change to give ourselves the best opportunity of retaining our Premier League status.
“All at Norwich City should be forever grateful to Daniel and his staff for the significant role they have played in our journey. They helped deliver two Championship titles, many memorable moments and they all fully bought into our philosophy and what it means to be part of this football club.
“Daniel and his staff will always be welcome back here. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their hard work and wish them well for the future.
“It’s important that we now look forward. We have 27 league games remaining and a long way to go in the current season. We know we have the ability within our playing squad and staff to start picking up points and climbing the league table.”
The club will issue a further update on its first team staff in due course.

Man of the match: Tim Krul.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank: “I’d say it’s a poor run of results rather than a poor run of form. We’ve performed very well in three of the last games in which we’ve lost. Against Chelsea, Leicester and Norwich. In the second half, I thought we destroyed Norwich and then we conceded a goal where Normann suddenly turned into Messi, beating a few players and then scoring with his weaker foot.
“But we still stayed in the game so when we perform like we’ve done in these games, I see no reason to change system. I would only change things if I felt the need to. We changed the system in the second half with three up front so we did everything to win the game. We had a top mentality and if we keep doing this, the law of statistics tells me we will be fine.
“I will take one game at a time, and if you get three points today or at Chelsea, it’s the same number of points so you can’t think in terms of taking points of those you imagine will end up close to you in the league.
“At this moment in time, I hate losing, I’m devastated and my body is burning. I’m very irritated so it’s important I get asked good questions as I just hate losing. When I watch the video back on Monday, I know it will be more calming as I feel we are on the right track. It will be impossible if we don’t collect more points if we keep performing as we are. All the xG tables tell me that it will change so we just have to keep the faith and the results will turn around.”
Norwich boss Daniel Farke: “We are there finally. It’s been a long wait and after a tough start it’s great to get the first win under our belts. It’s great for the mood, the confidence and the self-belief. The lads deserve to have this winning feeling back in the dressing room.
“There’s no replacement for wins for the self-belief and let’s be honest they’re all young lads. I think it’s the youngest Premier League XI so it’s not easy for them. Everyone is criticising them so they deserve this. We’ve got a great team spirit.
“Last season, we were winning game after game but the fans weren’t able to celebrate with us so also for them it’s a great celebration. They’ve had to be very patient. Everyone was so committed today to bring home the three points.
“Every game at this level is about fine margins but the key to today was going back to our DNA, keeping the ball and making short passes. We had to defend in the second half but we still had the chance of scoring a third in the second half.”

Fans reacted after Norwich City their sack manager after first win in 20 Premier League games…
@J_afc_x: So you sack him when he actually won a game but not when you were losing??
@Harrisxn04: He didn’t perform the Norwich way of losing every week, that’s why he’s gone
@Curtis_furness: Gutted isn’t the word for it. Strange timing but probably the right decision. Will always love Farke for everything he’s done for the club. Glad his last moments with the fans he was able to celebrate though.
@Lovelyoldjob: Completely & utterly gutted.
@Joseph76775740: I have to say it this man THIS MAN is the greatest manager I’ve ever known at Norwich I was one of the people asking for him to sacked and now it’s happened I feel guilty and devastated he’s a legend of this football club and I’m CERTAIN he is absolutely devastated with how thing
@andymason_212: Unless we get bought out, no manager will do a better job than Daniel Farked Pep with him. He said they are the best two managers in the premier league. I hope he gets a club worthy of him.
@FinnNCFC: it’s enough to make a grown man cry
@MysticalJ24: Gilmour finally freed from the shackles
@lnabbs32: Shocking from the board. Timing stinks after a win and with the team still on the bus home.
@ftbl_joey: Bilic vibes
@bleach2002: He has my vote for the Hall of Fame. Please make it happen
@niclovely2: Absolutely gutted 😭
@murrellst3: It’s the correct decision, however the timing is awful. Can only assume it has been done to give a new manger the international break to settle in. Sad to see him go as he has given my generation possibly the best two championship seasons of our lifetime #ncfc
@ncfc_gav: Strange timing in the end but at least he had left after celebrations at the end of the match. He wouldn’t have deserved Farke out chanting. Thank you for everyone Daniel. In football things never go on forever
@JTNCFC: Goodbye King thanks for the memories
@DouglasYoung61: At least he can go after a win and with the dignity he deserves after all the good he has done for the club. Not his fault he lost best 2 players from last season and those brought in have not been of a high enough level. Thank you Daniel.
@Mecharlie6: Thank you Daniel for all the good times my favourite Norwich manager by a mile good luck in the future
@StuartSayer: I’m bloody fuming. Disgraceful timing after this afternoon’s win. Daniel Farke has done absolute wonders for #ncfc – he deserves more respect. I hope he gets a fabulous new role…
