Full details are there was a crash and stuck in traffic which led me to be late 20 mins.

“Shane was late for the team meeting,” Thorup said in his post-match press conference.
“I set a culture for a football team and tell the players how we run things.
“It’s unfortunate for Shane and he didn’t do it on purpose but we’ve made it clear incidents like that cannot happen on game day.”
Duffy had played every league match for the Canaries this season before the draw on Friday night.
“It was an easy decision to take even though I don’t like it – the culture is on top of anything else,” Thorup added.
“There is room for mistakes but in my view mistakes should be followed by consequences.”
Per Pink Un, he said: “He was late for the team meeting today. At Carrow Rd. Too late to be considered for a start. It is simple. I set out the culture for this football team. We have some simple rules. Players can make mistakes.’

Fans reacted as Shane Duffy explains after the Norwich boss drops the captain and doesn’t use him for the. draw against Oxford…
@JohnWilson0812: Surely if you ring ahead club would understand??
@mickymaguire: Surely a call to the club to explain you’re stuck in traffic would be good enough?
@DRG__Tweets: I guess JHT had to make the decision to drop you for consistency reasons. Kinda shows no matter who you are or why you’re late that anyone is droppable. No doubt we see you on Tuesday night 🫡
@Shaney_ncfc: Shane thanks for your honesty your a good man there are certain situations that are out of our control as a team now we really need to get some consistency together if we really want to make a late charge for play offs
@neil_tweed: Gutted. Missed you last night!
@hogesar: Get him straight back into the starting lineup Tuesday please #ncfc
@GPS1963: Yep I’ve been late for things due to RTC’s but never punished for it. So harsh.
@jonnylivid1997: Thanks for your honesty Shane. 💛💚
@Saves1990: Find this a little bit mental. Very ‘cutting your nose off despite your face’ dropping someone for that. You’re punishing the rest of the squad. An apology and fine surely sufficient. 🤷♂️
@NCFCFINLAY15: Feel Duffy has been hard done by here , deffo needed him with the threat from their throw ins
@YorbaDanny: Surely there should have been some understanding here by the manager, an RTC can be checked to see that it is genuine. It’s not as if you said the dog ate your car keys. Good luck Shane.
@les_canaris: So we’re fucking up our playoffs chances because someone got stuck in traffic, I’m all for rules but a bit of common sense goes a long way, ridiculous dropping him and disturbing the whole back line on game day just for this 🤦♂️ #ncfc
@ncfcHarryy: I mean I’m not usually a fan of players talking about club issues on Twitter but I can see why Duffy has. The reaction from JHT to this seems somewhat over the top and borderline ridiculous when you consider we had to force Stacey to play left back over playing him. Bizarre.
@NotSammieDingle: Why the fuck did he put you on the bench when he never intended on using you? Didn’t see you warm up all night…
@NCFCTyler: idk how to feel about this. either duffy isn’t telling us something here or it’s a little ridiculous from jht. we defo missed him last night and with him i honestly think we win the game. fine him and punish him after the game if it’s something that he actually has little fault.
@NCFC_Dannyyy: When you think about the fact he’s not driving, this does make it a bit more confusing for me as I don’t think there’s an awful lot he can do about this. Feel like with him the result yesterday would have been different
Johannes Hoff Thorup speaking to Sky Sports after the game:
“We didn’t take care of all the dominance in the game and all the situations in and around the box, we should score more goals and then avoid the one we concede.
“We always prepare for it (change in formation) – I don’t know what number of teams this season that have changed their normal formation, that’s part of our gameplan to know they can go to the back five.
“I’m very pleased with the way we scored the first goal because that’s what we spoke about especially against a back five, of course, [but there were] a lot of the situations close to the box and in the area where we need a little bit of end product quality.”
Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan speaking to Sky Sports after the game:
“It was not the start we wanted.
“To react like we did was excellent, tonight the focus was on bouncing back when things don’t go right.
“It was great for Mark (Harris) to get on the scoresheet and I’m really happy for him.
“It’s a great point away at a tough place to come.”
Oxford United head coach Gary Rowett speaking to Sky Sports after the game:
“I think in our recent run of form, perhaps not getting what we deserved, we knew it would be a tough ask.
“We changed formation and tweaked a few things tactically, and I thought that apart from the mistake for the goal, switching off, we defended with real diligence, and had a few moments ourselves,
“I hope the result will give us a lift and I think it’s what we deserved for our efforts.”
“We look so much for explanations…”

The game on Friday night saw Norwich City and Oxford United play out a 1-1 draw. Josh Sargent gave Norwich the lead with his eighth goal in eight games but Mark Harris levelled shortly after to earn Oxford a point.
Jerome Sale (BBC Radio Oxford commentator): “Oxford take a very, very hard earned, well-deserved point.
“They haven’t stopped the run without a win, but it certainly feels like it. Mark Harris gets Oxford a point, a point closer to safety.”
Glenn Speller (BBC Sport England at Carrow Road): “The way the Oxford supporters have celebrated that draw tells you who this point means the most to.
“After going behind inside the opening five minutes the travelling fans may have feared the worst but credit must go to the visitors for the way they got back into it through Mark Harris’ goal and stuck in there under some intense Norwich pressure.
“The Canaries showed they have an attractive side to their play but the lack of real punch in midfield is clear to see and they look very much like a work in progress.
“‘We are staying up’ sang the Oxford fans at full-time and I think it’s a fair bet these two will be playing each other again in the Championship next season.”
Chris Goreham (BBC Radio Norfolk commentator): “There are a few too many opportunities being let slip by Norwich.
“In terms of endeavour, they dominated large spells, with that said, however, they didn’t really manage to break down a team that parked the bus for much of the game.
“Questions as to where Shane Duffy was and why he didn’t feature, Norwich may well have been better equipped to deal with the long throw with him on the pitch.”
Eddie Odhiambo (Former Oxford defender on BBC Radio Oxford): “Oxford sussed out the way Norwich played.
“For the first 10, 15 minutes it was really hard to deal with.
“Later on in the game we had worked out how Norwich played, but legs had tired and we couldn’t fully capitalise.
“It’s a good feeling when you think that, unless there is a mistake, we aren’t conceding.”
