Dale Vince responds after Forest Green’s ‘tongue in cheek’ tweet on Rob Edwards goes viral and causes a stir with fans.

After BBC Sport tweeted that Wolves had sacked Rob Edwards after just seven months following their relegation from the Premier League, Forest Green took to social media.

The National League club posted the Jeremy Clarkson ‘oh no… anyway’ meme in reaction to the news, with the tweet going on to get over 3,700 likes, but also received some criticism.

Dale Vince has since tweeted: “Actually there is no bitterness, what happened, happened and we had our say at the time. While social media posting can be a bit tongue in cheek and fun – just want to be clear, coz it can also be misunderstood – no hard feelings towards Rob, hope he gets his next gig soon….:)”

Rob Edwards was appointed by Forest Green in May 2021, and went on to win promotion to League One for the first time in the club’s history. He then left in May 2022 following negotiations with Watford.
