Non league match descends into chaotic punch-up with game stopped for 10 minutes

A non league match between Bourne Town and Aylestone Park descends into a chaotic punch-up with the game stopped for around 10 minutes.

317 fans turned up to watch the United Counties League Division One clash played out, however fans were shocked to see the fighting that played out after a late winner.

James Hill-Seekings’ header snatched all three points for Bourne Town on Saturday, but amid the celebrations scenes on the sidelines, an incident led to a melee.

@Deano71PPA wrote: “The league leaders not happy with being beaten today @officialAPFC v @BourneTownFC.

“Shocking, no place for this in the @utdcos or any football. #fine #pointsdeduction @leicsfa and @leicspolice got to have a word.

“They best hope @HucknallTownFc don’t see this before their visit!”

SpaldingToday report that Bourne’s Tom Edwards was ‘so excited that he ran into an Aylestone player shortly after the restart.’

Heated scenes took place in front of the two dugouts.

Edwards received a yellow for his tackle, with Aylestone having two cautions due to the tempers which boiled over.

The result means Aylestone are top of the table with 66 points from 27 games played, while Bourne Town are second, with 58 points from 27 matches.

Strong measures across football are being taken to tackle antisocial and criminal behaviours within football grounds.

These include entering the pitch without permission, carrying or using smoke bombs or pyros and throwing objects onto the pitch, as well as discriminatory behaviour and taking drugs. All of these are illegal, dangerous and have no place in our game.

For everyone’s safety, clubs will report anyone carrying out these offences to the police, which can result in a permanent criminal record.

These measures could also now apply to the parents or guardians of children involved in these activities.

Also, from the start of the 2022/23 season, anyone who enters the pitch and those carrying or using smoke bombs and pyros will now automatically be banned by their club.

Laurence Jones, Head of National League System at The FA said:

“Anti-social fan behaviour has no place in football, and we stand united across the NLS and the rest of the game to send a strong message that such incidents will not be tolerated.

“The FA and the NLS Leagues are taking an all-football approach to tackling these behaviours to ensure all participants, including our loyal volunteers and spectators, are free to watch matches in a family friendly, inclusive and safe environment for all.”
