A non league match ended up getting abandoned last night despite floodlights coming back only 20 minutes after they had failed.
It happened 70 minutes into Pontefract Collieries’ Northern Premier League First Division East clash with Pickering Town where the hosts were leading 2-0.
One floodlight went out and Pontefract said, “in the time it took us to take a look at the lights it took 20 minutes for a new fuse to be fit and this is the scene.”
They added that they were disappointed with the call to abandon it.
Take a look at the video they took below…

One user said: Pathetic decision. Gave the lights no chance at all to come back on. 12 minutes and he called it off. All lights back on after 20 and he wouldn’t come back out.
Another match that had a game called off last night was Rossington Main’s game with Selby, that decision was made after 33 minutes on the clock.
Floodlights have gone off.

GAME OFF! Lights still not working so game is called off. They’ll do anything to stop me winning the raffle. pic.twitter.com/SAVaADJcD0

Fair to say that was a proper lights out with no choice to end the game!
After learning of the official’s decision to call the game of at Pontefract, fans continued to criticise it being abandoned so quickly – check out what they had to say on the next page.
