Non league football waves goodbye to another club set to fold

Non league football waves goodbye to another club who have announced that they are set to fold after their last game on Saturday.

The Pines (Luton) FC of the Bedfordshire County League Division Three have made the tough decision to call it quits following the pandemic.

The club were formed in 2018, and attracted a decent fanbase for their level and put in many impressive performances.

They were experiencing their first season in the Beds County League Division One ‘B’, sitting 7th and picking up 30 points from 22 games.

For the 2019/20 season, they were in the Beds County League Division Two, finishing in 1st place, taking 49 points from 20 games played before the season was stopped.

The club were also Beds County League Div 3 winners for the 2018/19 season and Watson Shield champions for 2019. Fair to say this was a club with a promising future, that was however until the Covid pandemic put a stop to it.

“So the rumours are true. Saturdays game Vs St Joe’s will be the Pines Fc last ever game.

“As most of you know the Pines hotel and bar shut its doors last year due to COVID never to be reopened.

“Marc and Dave have taken the tough decision to fold the team after Saturdays game.

“We as a club have enjoyed every single minute of our journey and it could not have been made possible without all the players and volunteers help and commitment.

“Winning the league and cup double in our 1st season will definitely be a highlight for us and we hope soon a local team can live up to our reputation.

“Over the years we have played 70 Games, winning 55 drawing 3 and losing 12.

“We scored over 310 goals, conceding 111 with total points of 168, giving us a respectable winning ratio of 79%.

“In that time we had signed on 61 players, had 37 different goal scorers, kept 14 clean sheets and had two players make over 50 apps.

“Our discipline was always squeaky clean with only the 58 Yellow Card.

“15 reds and 10 club misconduct reports. The gaffa Marc and Chairman Dave will now think about where to go next and if they start up something new and go again or maybe join a club already established.

“We thank you all and wish everyone all the success in the future.”
