After watching the video, fans took to give their thoughts on the incident between the Fairford Town and Royal Wootton Bassett Town players which saw a fight break out before the game was abandoned…
The ref probably did abandon it a bit easily, but the players need to have a look at themselves. Take responsibility for acting like that, it does my head in.

The referee has completely lost control there. Simply put it’s a red card for the red 7 for a headbutt and a red for the red 2 for a stamp. The opposition 11 that got assaulted probably should get a yellow card for initial incident. Not great advert for referees!

Number 11 sent off for being headbutted and stamped on and the ref wondered why his colleagues wanted to question the decision?!?! Ony one abandonment needed there and that`s that incompetent clowns refereeing career!! ???

Well said, the ref had no option. You cannot harangue a ref like that. He could not trust the players to continue. There would have been more in the sin bin than on the field.

Red 7&2 and yellow for blue 11. Decisions been made. Game on. How the ref has called that is a shocker. Hopefully he doesn’t ref at that level if he can’t take a bit of upset. Hopefully that 2 get banned for a while. Horrid behaviour!!

@LeeCotton1: Absolutely back the ref 100% on his decision. He clearly felt he couldn’t trust the players to finish the game without further incident. Also great for the authorities to have some footage to use when dishing out appropriate punishments.
@Welchwizard88: Red 7 – straight red. Red 2 – should never kick a football again. Blue 11 – yellow card. Absolute mess the ref made of that.
@kelvinbossman: Why has the blues no.11 been sent off after receiving a headbutt in front of the ref and a stamp? Trying to work out why the red’s no.7 didn’t get pulled out by the ref and sent off and his reasons for abandoning the game? ?
@WardellDick: You cannot disrespect the referee. He did the right thing. Oh to be a referee.
@davidreader2: As a former ref my self I would say you have to be stronger than that ref. Hardly a mass confrontation
@twitlivesey: Agree with many of the comments. Being a step 5 game, the referee could’ve utilised the sin bin for those who argued against him rather than abandon it.
@Edwarsp359741: It’s unfortunate that arguing with a referee is seen as part of the game. I don’t blame the ref we are all human and he had just had enough.
@PeteGilbert6: The refs at lower league are total arses , could have just carried on , fucked it big time sending him off the player who stamped on his head wants throwing out the game
