Newcastle teammate makes surprising revelation about Allan Saint-Maximin

A Newcastle United teammate makes surprising revelation about Allan Saint-Maximin with speculation continuing over his future at the club.

The Magpies winger arrived from Ligue 1 side Nice back in the summer of 2019, and gone on to become a key member of Steve Bruce’s squad, featuring 26 times in all competitions for the 2020/21 Premier League season.

He’s been a fan-favourite in the North East, while his fellow players at Newcastle have expressed their admiration for the 24-year-old, including Shelvey, who has spoken in-depth about the ‘laid back’ forward.

It’s claimed that he picks up a fine ‘every day’ at the club and it always seems to be for something different each time.

In a fascinating chat with The Beautiful Game podcast, Shelvey waxed lyrically about the Frenchman before opening up about his daily fines.

“He’s a lunatic. He’s class, man, some player. He’s some guy as well,” the Newcastle teammate says as he makes the surprising revelation about Allan Saint-Maximin.

“If he weren’t that good, you’d probably have the hump with him but when he’s that good, you don’t really want to have a go at him. He’s just one of them who’s so laid back. Head to toe in designer gear.

“He gets fined every day because he’s got earrings in and stuff like that but if he weren’t that good, you’d probably have the hump with him but when he’s that good, you don’t really want to have a go at him.

“He’s been outstanding. For me, as a midfield player, you try and get you’re head up and we’re a team that plays on the counter-attack so we just have to try and get the ball to him and let him try and dribble around 20 players.

“He’s so quick – you just don’t know what he’s going do with the ball – and he’s so raw with his skill.”

Shelvey went on to praise Saint-Maximin’s attitude and willingness to learn whilst at the club.

“He’s improved a lot defensively because when he first signed, he didn’t really want to track back and things like that but the gaffer’s got him doing that,” he continued.

“That’s just going to make him even better.

“I remember the goal he scored against Sheffield United with his head – the leap. That was up there with [Cristiano] Ronaldo’s leaping and you don’t see him in the gym or anything like that.

“He’s just one of those footballers who’s got the electric pace and I can’t speak highly enough of him.”

Along with his performances on the pitch, Newcastle fans have grown to love Saint-Maximin even more through his Twitter account.

The Frenchman isn’t afraid to voice his opinion on social media, last year, he responded to a supporter who flashed his penis in their FA Cup clash against Oxford by saying, “That’s messed up since we didn’t see anything because of the cold night (hopefully).”

Saint-Maximin also replied to a user who asked what he’d do if Lionel Messi asked for the 10 shirt. “I will wake up.

The former Saint-Etienne player lived up to his Twitter reputation again in 2021 by responding to a Sunderland supporter who slated Newcastle’s under 23 side.

It all started when a Tyne-Wear derby was postponed due to heavy snowfall and in the comments section, a Twitter user wrote: “Sunderland would win anyway lol you’re team is shit.”

Saint-Maximin then posted a GIF of The Weeknd’s Super Bowl performance alongside the caption: “The Premier League calendar looking for Sunderland season after season.”

Allan Saint-Maximin savagely destroyed an Everton fan who trolled him in April just before the season’s end.

He inspired his side to a 2-1 turnaround win over Burnley, coming off the bench to brilliantly assist the away side’s first goal before netting a superb solo strike to seal the win.

It was a much needed three points for Newcastle and a perfect counter to Everton fan Patrick Williams who had tweeted Saint-Maximin that very morning to say: “Overrated player that wouldn’t even make our bench.”

Saint-Maximin then took time out to reply post-match with: “Thank you for your comment Patrick” and a picture of a microphone held over a rubbish bin.

The savage on that. Williams should have known not to trash talk the undisputed king of football Twitter Saint-Maximin – whose response already has a quarter of a million likes.

Fans reacted as Newcastle teammate Jonjo Shelvey makes a surprising revelation about Allan Saint-Maximin, see what they said below…

@Rusty14Xavi: Be interesting to see what the fines list looks like and how much goes into the players pot, I bet they don’t go Blackpool for the end of season do 🤣😜

@Culks1: Neither will we the way we are going 😂😅

@agbnufc_: You telling me we fine him every day for breach of dress code, more money for Ashley unreal.

@AVFCFaithful_: So basically St Maximin runs Newcastle United

@GeordieKyle: jonjo Shelvey on ASM… “So we just have to try and get the ball to him and let him try and dribble around 20 players”

@RyanMoseleynufc: No chance we will keep a hold of him the state the club is in, one of the best wingers I’ve seen at us

@_Regimez_: Tells you a lot more about the lack of balls in the dressing room than about Maxis skill tbh

@Adam_Hassan909: He can wear what the fuck he wants.

@malthecat: @asaintmaximin is a fucking prick… all show no action.. if he’s not playing? Give him half pay… he only plays half a season… head bands, wrist bands, knee bands WTF 🤷‍♂️..

@BlakeeBedfordd: He’s literally class how can you whinge and moan

@jjNUFC: I love him. But he’ll be off next summer. I genuinely believe he’s the best out and out dribbler in the league. His level of end product will defy how far he goes in the game.

@LiamNUFC98: He’ll be gone soon because this club has no ambition

@garliclover123: Just disrespectful. If i was the manager I’d start upping those fines till he stopped breaking the rules.

@CeeJay_EFC: Some of our fans don’t like richy because the way he acts at times..think I’d still prefer our pigeon than the bling
