New changes set to be made to Premier League TV coverage from the 2025/26 season, according to the Telegraph this week.
Some of the those being introduced on Sky Sports and TNT Sports include touchline interviews with substituted players, a first for the league, along with other US-style innovations.
Camera operators will be allowed on the pitch to capture close-up goal celebration footage, similar to what we’ve seen ESPN do for the NFL, for a ‘matter of seconds’.
Another feature will see gained access to changing rooms, though not during team talks. Substituted players can be interviewed near the touchline while the game goes on in the background.
The new changes will be limited for 2025/26 and dependant on club cooperation, with dressing-room access and player interviews are expected at two home games for each club who choose to allow it.

These changes come after Sky Sports trialled some of the innovations, such as an interview with Bournemouthās Marcus Tavernier (vs Southampton) last season, after the new package with TNT Sports, worth more than Ā£6.7 billion over four years.
Use will be limited and depend on club cooperation, with some managers and clubs, such as Arsenal and Manchester City who have behind-the-scenes documentaries, reportedly resistant due to privacy and contractual concerns.
The deal also increases live games by 70 per season, with better per-game value for broadcasters, as the league aims to protect future TV rights revenue.
Broadcasters will be given more for their money after agreeing the record total value deal.
Fans reacted to new changes set to be made to Premier League TV coverage from the 2025/26 season…
@phillyt1: Interview the referees after the game, nobody wants interviews with subs or cameramen joining celebrations or watching people get changed.
@NicolaPartridg2: āTo give the broadcastersā¦ā is all you need to read. Theyāre the ones who keep peddling the myth of āitās all about the fansā whilst simultaneously shafting the game at every turn for their profit. Till everyone starts cancelling PPV subs, theyāll continue ruining it.
@SocialEngland66: Keep this shit in the premier league, leave it well out of the EFL.
@Niall_UTD: American nonsense. Be more in their line to get refs doing interviews after a game to explain any big decisions etc.
@danisawolf: Absolutely daft decision got all time in world after the game, let them focus for the duration of game on or off the field, Iād be raging if someone came to interview me mid game
@lukereid95: Wonāt show conversations between officials on decisions or interview them after games but letās interview subs šš¤£
@Harry_Manz: Does anyone actually watch the premier league anymore? It’s been wank for years. Big games are dull, the football is dull, it’s predictable and they are all on different channels at different times. It died years ago for most casual fans
@hammerhead5927: Do we now have to start calling it soccer?
@Luke_Smith66: What happens in the changing room has to stay there. Management and leadership styles will have to change due to having to be careful with what they say in front of cameras
@aroundgroundsss: How to proper kill the premier league if it isnāt dead already š¤£š¤£š¤£ Horrible this and itās everything whatās wrong wrong with top tier football nowadays
@GeorgeWales13: Who wants this man
@KayLFC05_: Nobody wants to see this. Stop trying to Americanise the game. Itās already bad enough. Itās a professional sport, not a comedy show.
@JnathanN: Tragic. Only gonna get worse as more American owners take over clubs too.
@P_Rourke: Absolute rubbish. Premier league as a product is so finished, so little interest in it anymore
@BrendanWilhide: Hate to see this. The in game/match interviews are pointless in every sport. Just going through the motions.
@stokaljona: Who is this for
@DaveAV96: This sport is soon to be finished. Constantly keep adding/changing stuff when it doesn’t need to be. Leave football alone.
@ScottCharlesMD: No one is asking for this. Let us enjoy the match. Let them rest. This is pure nonsense and unnecessary for sport.
@luggy27: So glad I donāt want Premier League football anymore. Games gone. Non league so much better.
@WestBankToby: This is so embarrassing. The Premier League slowly selling their soul. Americanising our beautiful game. Grim.
@StrettyEndView: Shite. Just go away with this American style shit. Who watches football and thinks āyou know what I want, I want to listen to player A crying about being subbedā?
@RJConway92: Won’t be long until PL want to introduce a Pro Bowl/All Star type game. The Americanisation of the PL can’t be stopped. It’s a content & money making machine. This is commonplace in the NFL & NBA, along with HT shows. I’m surprised it’s taken this long for the PL to latch on.
@TallPaul_H: And with the success of an American TV show and their club moving through the leagues, it wonāt be long until the Football League is in danger too as other rich Americans chase that glory/money
@garythegooner56: This is a terrible idea. I donāt want to see cameramen running on the pitch or emotionally charged up subbed players being immediately interviewed as for cameras in the dressing rooms that should never happen that is sacrosanct. All part of football selling its soul for money
