More shocks in FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replays + the revised First Round draw

There were more shocks in FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replays + we take a look at the revised First Round draw following Tuesday’s action.

It was memorable night for many, but for one club in-particular, Taunton Town had a special one as they knocked out league above Yeovil Town to advance.

It was a spot kick from Lloyd James in the 26th minute that saw the hosts book a place in the First Round where they will travel to League One outfit Milton Keynes Dons.

The Peacocks deserved to go through over the two ties as they outfought their National League opposition, getting the vital goal.

Yeovil were penalised for a handball from Lloyd James’ free kick and the midfield man sent Grant Smith the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Chris Hargreaves’ men failed to trouble Jack Bycroft in the home goal while Taunton missed a few chances to make their victory more comfortable.

It’s Torquay United who will play host to Derby County after Gary Johnson’s side did it the hard way coming from behind with ten men to win at Hampton & Richmond, an Aaron Jarvis header confirmed the tie that is sure to see plenty through the gate.

Oldham Athletic had to wait until around 10:40pm on Tuesday night to seal their place in the next round but they didn’t read the script and prevented the big Wrexham v Chester tie that a lot of people wanted to see happen.

Kevin Roberts scored a brilliant extra time goal to very nearly set up a local derby after Kurt Willoughby levelled up and cancelled out Ben Tollitt’s first half goal.

But Mike Fondop’s 119th minute effort sent it to penalties – and the National League side Oldham came out eventual winners – 4-3 on spot kicks.

Wrexham survived a potential scare against Blyth Spartans to edge themselves into the first round.

Goals from Paul Mullin, Jordan Davies and Ollie Palmer had the Deagons in comfortable, but like on Saturday, the National League North club didn’t give up.

JJ O’Donnell got one back for Blyth Spartans before Michael Richardson got the Welsh outfit nervous again, however on this occasion they couldn’t quite pull off the shock.

AFC Fylde will take on Gillingham next month after Luke Charman confirmed their progression with a 2-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers.

Chippenham Town managed to beat Hendon 1-0. It’s Lincoln City next for the Bluebirds.

Adam Campbell netted a double for Gateshead as they knocked out Altrincham – and now it’s a game with League Two leaders Stevenage.

ON TAUNTON:

@MattWinter87: Well done Taunton 👏👏👏

@Kevinmutch: Congratulations from Weymouth! Enjoy the trip to MK!

@unofficialmagna: 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Fair play

@cidersuspect: Bring on MK Mongs!!

@geekcypriot: HAHAHAHAHHAHA amazing! Well done Taunton! Up yours Yeovil

@ludlam87: Yeovil who? There’s only one big team in Somerset

@DarkShellcode: Well Done Taunton brilliant club on the up 👏🏻👏🏻 enjoy your trip to Mk Dons

@1987spv: Well done Taunton Town! Good luck in the next round (Torquay fan)

@CleaveO: Congratulations. Fully deserved from disgruntled and fed up #YTFC fan.

ON WREXHAM

@aled174: Great first half, abysmal second half. But we’ll take the win.

@brenberger84: God that was hard going in the second half….

@CHAMM24: It’s never straight forward

@OVMTweets: Fair play @Blyth_Spartans.. I say this with love, but after this week, and 1978, I never ever want to play you again! #haway

@fargolawyer: I was so nervous….feel like a real #WrexhamAFC supporter now! Can’t wait for the next round and the next match #UpTheTown

@dbedro: Well done, Red Dragons. Although learning that Blyth players are part-timers who work actual jobs in addition to playing – much respect to them. Never quit. Made for a tense finish.

ON OLDHAM

@OJMarsden: What a game 😳 #oafc

@joshoafc1: we was all in a lot of doubt

@FranceOAFC: Is that 4 unbeaten now ?!

@johnclarke1981: Claiming that as a first win is scraping the barrel. We drew with a National League North side over 210 minutes and progressed into the next round on pens. 😂 #oafc

@Sco77yR: Shattered after last night! But gotta love a last minute equaliser and win on pens! Need to improve though, we brought on so much pressure in the 2nd half again #oafc

@AndyCiderMan: 6 games everyone. Not his players, a long injury list and the plans he and his team are putting in place won’t bear fruit for a while. I cannot even entertain the idea of questioning him right now. Anyone that does has a warped perspective on football #oafc

@Nicholas197623: #oafc Really pleased for Unsworth,the players and all the staff to get that first win. Now let’s kick on and take this into winning league games. Lots of work needed but hopefully a turning point. Might not be saying that at 5 on Saturday tho. This club 💙💙

@John_Mac76: Can’t believe the moaning. That was a classic case of minnow taking a team low on confidence all the way. Give #ChesterFc some credit, they were great opponents in both games and they were up for it tonight. Very entertaining but nervy cup tie. #KTF #OWTB #oafc🦉💙🧡

@DavidELSE13: Dismal again but will take the win and just hope that kick starts our season. Fondop grafted hard and deserved the goal. But man of the match for me was the young lad on the front row behind the goal giving it to chester fans and leading the pitch invasion. Great work #oafc
