More games have been postponed for 8th tier club Walsall Wood who are currently experiencing difficult times behind the scenes.
Report state that they saw the playing budget axed with new boss Adam Pearce determined to ‘pig in’, helping them to keep on track.
They currently sit 4th in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division with 19 points from 11 games played.
Ian Long and every member of his squad, apart from under-21 goalkeeper Alex Bowen, walked out of the club citing “multiple broken promises along with unpaid wages”.
The game against Corby Town, scheduled for the 4th of October, ended up being called off, the game against Lye on the 8th went ahead, losing 2-1.
Walsall Wood said: “It is no secret that the past few days have been difficult for Walsall Wood Football Club.
“Our hardworking band of volunteers have united to ensure a new team came together for tonight’s match with Lye Town. which has been our sole focus since Friday.
“We are very proud of the players and management that represented our wonderful club tonight and look forward to continuing our work to stabilise the club on and off the pitch in the coming weeks.
“Please be assured that any updates will be provided as and when appropriate.”
Walsall Wood may be “in the mire” having axed the playing budget but new boss Adam Pearce is as happy as a pig in… well, the mire.https://t.co/vkBm5cRQHn

“In recent weeks, our interim manager Adam Pearce has worked hard to bring players into the club and we are pleased with the progress that is being made to ensure that the club can field a competitive squad each week.

Here’s how fans reacted amid more games postponed for an 8th tier club experiencing difficult times…
@paragaz: Clearly everything isn’t fine. There are a lot of people who love the club who are doing their best to keep the club going to ensure we still have a club in our community. I’m going to continue to support them!!
@andyhughes1610: Why is Justin not posting a statement that everything is fine, and that he is continuing to back the club? Because this is just a shower of shit!
@GrahamEardley: Justin is no longer at the club
@MidlandFootyfan: Integrity of the @NorthernPremLge coming into play now, allowing a team to PP games because lack of players, so @bedworth_united & @corbytownfc now have to play them when they’ll be stronger while @TheNomadsFc & @lyetownfc1930 played their U18s Affecting both ends of the table
@PaulJacklin: Suspect they are on verge of folding or resigning in which case all results will get wiped
@KeithHighamcov: You make a good point.
@stujess: Nothing to do with not having players!
@MannersWade: Absolutely agree – Not sure this is about not having players as they have signed several (and a new manager) this is about how the club is run and monies owed. They had a team for this game .
@kmcaree068: FA should step in and get things sorted out for all parties. Unfair on other teams, and is it bringing the GAME INTO DISREPUTE? THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW!!!!
@Steelmen2023: What does this mean for the games against Corby and Bedworth? Both teams will have lost money because of @WalsallWoodFC
@Rovert551: No one likes to see a neighbour club struggling . I personally wish you well at this difficult time ⚽️
@DMCG1991: They need to sort themselves out, becoming a bit of a circus the last few weeks
@rpoore1882: Not to mention the likelihood of these now being midweek games thus meaning the gate numbers will be smaller, meaning the affected clubs will be worse off financially.
@1992_andym: If @WalsallWoodFC can be bothered to turn up it’s meant to be 6th November but I’m not holding my breath.
@goonersteelman: Surely the League has to step in nos either fine them or dock points
@foreverayellow: Well done to all the volunteers at the club who have managed to get the game against Lye on. To get the game on bar open and field a team that wasn’t far away from getting a result. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes by people who volunteer and are keeping this club going 👏
