Moises Caicedo scores his first goal for Chelsea from the halfway line in the final Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth.
He surprised everyone inside Stamford Bridge when taking advantage of a mistake by Bournemouth’s goalkeeper to give his side a crucial lead.
The Blues went into this match with an opportunity to finish the season in fifth position and clinch Europa League qualification with a victory, depending on the outcome of Tottenham’s match.
Caicedo, who had not scored a goal in a Chelsea shirt prior to Sunday, caught Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto way out off his line, dribbled the ball just slightly over the halfway line and sent a long one into the net.

50.5 – Moises Caicedo’s goal for Chelsea was the furthest scored in a Premier League game since Wayne Rooney for Everton in November 2017 (57.7 yards v West Ham). Range. pic.twitter.com/3l4bRIaxGv

Chelsea ended up beating Bournemouth 2-1 at Stamford Bridge; Moises Caicedo with that long range goal, before Raheem Sterling added a second; Benoit Badiashile’s own goal gave Bournemouth hope; but Chelsea end the season in 6th and qualify for Europe; Cherries end 12th.

This is how fans reacted as Moises Caicedo scores his first goal for Chelsea from the halfway line against Bournemouth…

@aob_shan: What a player!! Caicedo!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾 They laughed at us 😂🫢
@batchowski19x: Turned up on the last game of the season has he 😂🤣 worth the 110 million then
@Ross__05: Amount of ridiculous goals you get on the final day is actually insane, even today already Caicedo. Foden and Kudus all scored screamers in the first half of their games
@jeebafootball: Beautiful goal from Caicedo who is starting to show his quality. We need to release the ball earlier during transitions, also decision making has to improve in the final third, as we’ve seen throughout the season, a second is needed
@CFCKarter: HT thoughts – Unbelievable goal from Caicedo and he’s been a monster all half (as he’s been quite often in last few months). Otherwise a pretty average performance, indecisive in the final actions, letting Bou have the ball in dangerous areas, and looking tired. I’d replace Sterling with Nkunku immediately at the half, and move Jackson to the left. Let’s win this one to close out the season.
@nickverlaney:
HT thoughts:
– Chelsea well up for this.
– Caicedo with an unreal goal.
– Counter attack is there once we break press. Decision-making has largely been poor.
– Taylor is keeping Bournemouth in it. Classic him.
– Bournemouth got back into it before half. Stay focused.
@CJHCFC1994: That goal with forever be remembered from Caicedo, his first goal in Chelsea blue and what a way to do it! A contender for goal of the season for sure, had me smiling from ear to ear for ages afterwards. So far so good, need to kill the game 2nd half. 👍🔵 #CheBou
@Tsuzan_: Take a bow son, take a bow 💙 What a goal Moises Caicedo!
@shyamtalks: Even without that screamer of a goal, Caicedo has been sensational so far in that half. We’re truly getting to see the player that he’s always been lately 🔥 #CheBou #CFC #PremierLeague
@bhagwanparticle: Happy Caicedo getting his goal finally in his 1st season. He deserved it. Pundits were duping him has flop signing but only Chelsea fans know how good he is. And what a goal to score.
