Miron Muslic gives impressive speech in his first words to the squad as new Plymouth boss

Miron Muslic gives an impressive speech as in his first words to the squad as new boss of Plymouth Argyle ahead of his first game in charge.

He has sparked significant optimism among Plymouth Argyle fans and players, already expressing admiration for the new man in charge, with many feeling a sense of motivation and reconnection to the club.

Muslic’s appointment until 2028 indicates a long-term commitment to his vision for the team, and his first game in charge will be against Oxford United.

MIRON MUSLIC’S SPEECH:

“Good morning, lads. Good to be here. Very good to be here. Normally or usually I address my words always first to the team, but this morning I will address my first words, first to Nancekivell. Your courage, your commitment, your selflessness is an inspiration. There are moments in life and moments on the football pitch where the heat is on and the pressure is on, people just disappear, run away, hide.

Other people like Nancekivell stepping up, that’s courage. Balls. That impresses me a lot. When I saw the celebration after the game, it was pure, it was from the heart, not fake, pure from the heart. Goosebumps all over my body.

“When I saw Joe sprinting towards to the fence, goosebumps and I thought fucking hell this guy’s gonna pull his hamstring again. Take it easy Joe. Bro, I need you on the right side. Okay?

“I know it has been difficult for you over the last weeks. Suffering, struggling, it’s part of our job. We are professional football players. It’s not easy being a professional football player. We have to perform day in day out every single weekend and we are an object of, we don’t have a private life. They can do whatever the fuck they want with us.

“They can destroy us every single day, every single game. That’s why it’s difficult to be a professional football player that’s why we are here because it’s hard. Nothing in the next weeks will be easy for us, no problem. Let’s face this challenge in front of us with commitment, with heart, with the togetherness because you impressed me also, 2 days ago in Brentford. Going over there and deliver a performance like you did. Yeah. Well done.

“Showing this passion, showing this conviction, showing this togetherness, this will be the ingredients we will need also to face all the challenge in front of us no doubt, and it’s gonna be fucking hard, no problem. Aggressive, intense, brave. This will be our core principles every day in, every day out.

“These are not ingredients to win a beauty contest, but fucking football game. Every time they’re gonna face Argyle regardless, Home Park or away, it will be hard. It will be annoying. It will be shit to play against us. I have a clear style of play.

“I have a million idea how to progress with you, how to develop you, but step by step. First of all, we need simplicity and clarity. And the first thing we’re gonna do is get this team tight, compact, together, and high up on the pitch. We have a lot of quality inside this team. We need to get this team high up on the pitch so we can show that quality.

“I’m very demanding, I’m gonna try to raise the bar in everything in everything to improve you, to develop you, to make you better. I’m very demanding. We had the last 3 years the highest physical output in Belgium, and it’s a physical league, same like a Championship. So it’s not easy, but everything I will demand from you I will give you every single day 247. Then it’s easy for me to sell this because I will give you everything.

“We can judge you, we can rate you, we can feedback you, we can criticise you, you are football players only to help, to develop, and to support you. I will be straight and honest towards my communication. I have to be, and this is my right as a head coach. This is the right for us as staff, but as human beings, you are untouchable. I will never cross that line, I give you my word.

“So I’m very much looking forward for everything that’s in front of us and we want to face this with a big heart, with conviction, with courage, and everything will be fine.”

Miron Muslic and Andrew Parkinson are taking questions from the media:

AP: “Thanks to Nance and Joe for leading the team for the last three games. They’ve done an incredible job. We need to note the incredible work they’ve done.”

MM: “I’m very honoured to be here. When you meet the people, you understand how important Argyle is. At Brentford, it was goosebumps from minute one.

“It’s a challenge, no doubt. But it’s a possible challenge, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. The squad is competitive enough.”

MM: “The passion, the togetherness, going over there and performing in that way. It was a very good first impression.”

AP: “We feel we have the ideal person to take us forward. He has a great track record, he’s a visionary. Outside of the technical qualities, his leadership qualities too. He was the standout candidate.”

MM: “I said to the lads this morning, I’m a very demanding coach. I try to raise the bar in everything. If you get everything, it’s easier to get something back. My strength is to maximise the profiles, and potential, we have.”

MM: “The way I see football, fits with the English culture, the stadiums. It fits perfectly to Argyle. I’m looking forward to the start.”

MM: “I had an interesting trip from London to Plymouth, on the train, with the Green Army! I know every supporter inside and out!

“It means a lot to them, and to me too. This my new home, my club, my colours.”

AP: “We scouted worldwide. What are the qualities of the person we need, on and off the pitch? It was a board discussion, but also involved some football people for a rounded view.

“From having the vacancy, we worked solidly, 24/7. We made sure we did initial interviews, then we went down to a final number. We haven’t got the biggest budget, we’re always going to have different challenges, but we felt Miron’s experience was the ideal for the position we’re in.”

MM on staff: “This is not a one-man show, it never has been and never will be. Particularly about Nance, I was told he was the ‘soul of the club’. Now I understand. From the first WhatsApp, to the first call, I understand what Simon [Hallett] and Andrew were talking about.”

MM on FA Cup: “I’m not easy to scare! It was just a beautiful moment. This is exactly where I want to be. When we got the draw – it’s hard to understand! I don’t think about Liverpool – I think about the next game. We’ve got some big ones [coming up], it’s a challenge.”

MM: “This is, maybe, the most competitive league in the world. Definitely the most challenging second division in the world. In terms of transition and pace, the Jupiler Pro League is probably a little faster. It’s a challenge collecting points in Belgium, it’s a challenge here.”

MM, asked about Liverpool: “The last 72 hours was so much for me. I’ve tried to focus all of my attention on the team, on Oxford and QPR. Liverpool is far away.”

AP: “After a review of footballing structures, I can confirm Neil [Dewsnip] has left the club. We want to place on record our thanks to him for everything he has done over his time at Argyle. We wouldn’t be where we are today without his contributions”

MM on his style of football: “Active, aggressive, intense, structured, and organised. Ready to attack, ready to counter-press. Very proactive, not waiting, not dropping or getting deep. This won’t come overnight. Gradually, we will transform this team.”

MM: “It will be tough to play against us. This is the biggest compliment you can get. I was very close with all my colleagues in Belgium, and you get feedback, ‘Miron, it was very tough against you.'”

Here’s how fans reacted as Miron Muslic gives an impressive speech in his first words to the squad as new Plymouth boss…

@STB_93: Wow, he speaks well.

@Phill_Gill:
“Playing against Argyle will be hard,
It will be annoying,
It will be shit to play against us!!”
Wow! The Devonian Churchill has landed! You get one chance to make a first impression!!
Currently 2000/1 on @skybet for those that are interested!! #pafc

@nickc80196: I support Leeds, couldn’t give 2 fucks about Plymouth but after this 4:41 video I’ve come across of a bloke I’d never heard of 5 minutes ago, I’ve just ran through a brick wall, ended homelessness and achieved world peace.

@trevor_east: I’ve met most of the big name managers and coaches over the years but rarely have I been so impressed so soon. Mustn’t jump the gun but that speech to the players was right up there with the best. And I mean the best!! Bodes well. 👏👏👏

@harvisterc: This definitely shows strong leadership. It’ll be interesting to see how Plymouth fair. From an Exeter point of view (one I assume you don’t care about) I believe he could pull of a great escape and keep Plymouth in the Championship for another season. investment is still needed.

@jm_bell95: If those players won’t run through a brick wall for him then they’re gone. There’s an aura around this guy. Incredibly powerful speech. I think it’s clear, we won’t be winning beauty contests but he’s here to win games. I just want to win games. I’m fine with that #pafc

@BevisRobins: Wow. Seriously impressive.

@CarlBarnard15: Jesus 💚💚 I hope this whole talk will be on Argyle tv later 🤞 Love him already, doesn’t take much does it 😂

@rxlyaT: League is wrapped up already, Argyle in the prem next season.

@VinceRennie: If these last 3 games and this man’s speech carry over to our remaining games i think we might just be OK!

@MullanRuss: Rovers fan here and after watching that introduction speech to the players and staff he sounds like he has a clear plan for PAFC looks like you are now in good hands with him and hopefully you will pull clear this season. See you at Ewood again ⚪️🔵🌹

@swainy997: If this doesn’t motivate the players nothing will

@Resurgam96: Holy shit no wonder he passed the interview 😂 some guy 💚

@GreenArmy46: If he coaches how he speaks we should be absolutely fine

@_AndyDavies: If this doesn’t fill you with optimism I don’t know what will. Speaks very well and comes across brilliantly.
