Matheus Cunha cheekily mimics Morgan Gibbs-White’s taunting celebration towards Wolves fans in the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Morgan Gibbs-White opened the scoring against his former side, with Matheus Cunha netting twice on his return from injury.
After leaving Wolves back in 2022, there hasn’t been too much love between the two, he banked Wolves a massive £42.5m, but tensions between player and former club are still there, with Gibbs-White trying to fuel it even more at the weekend.
Gibbs-White scored the first Forest goal of the game and after doing so, ran towards the away end and celebrated, giving the ears and kissed the Forest badge.
In response to Gibbs-White’s celebration, Cunha copied it, amusing the away end.

You’ll never understand it?
Listen to some of the chants. It’s fairly easy from my perspective. Some disgraceful chants from some of the away fans today, and on previous occasions.
Booing? I understand away fans will. But misogyny etc isn’t okay at all.

Speaking after the game about Cunha, Gibbs-White said (via Match of the Day): “He’s a friend of mine. He’s a good guy, a really good guy. Football is entertainment, and we showed that today, but as a team we are very frustrated.”
Cunha said (via Wolves official): “But the second (celebration) was a little bit of a joke with Morgan Gibbs-White. He’s a great player and I know things have been said before the game about when we played each other in the Carabao Cup last year, so after he scored, I scored and I remembered this celebration, but there was nothing else more than this. It was just a little joke between us.”
Danilo was also on target for Forest, with the result leaving Nuno Espirito Santo’s side hovering precariously one point above the drop zone.
Player ratings:
Nottm Forest: Sels (5), Williams (6), Omobamidele (6), Murillo (7), Aina (7), Yates (6), Danilo (7), Reyna (7), Gibbs-White (8), Hudson-Odoi (6), Wood (5).
Subs: Dominguez (6), Origi (5), Ribeiro (n/a) Tavares (n/a).
Wolves: Sa (6), Gomes (6), Kilman (7), Bueno (7), Doherty (6), Joao Gomes (6), Lemina (6), Semedo (6), Doyle (6), Sarabia (6), Cunha (8).
Subs: Hawng (6), H. Bueno (6), Traore (6), Chirewa (n/a), Fraser (n/a).
Player of the Match: Morgan Gibbs-White
Gary O’Neil spoke to BBC Match of the Day after Wolves’ draw with Nottingham Forest: “I think a draw is probably a fair outcome. They had more shots and territory, we had more of the ball. Probably a fair result, I am guessing Forest will be disappointed. They had some late pressure without troubling Jose Sa too much.
“We gave them the first goal really, a really poor goal. Even where it goes in, middle of the goal, Sa will be disappointed to have not saved it. Soft header. On the balance of it. Lots of stuff I did like and other stuff we need to improve on, but we know that. So not much else to it.
“We are getting back to where we should be player wise but it is so tricky at the minute to manage the group. You’ve got Cunha who can play 65 minutes-ish, then Channy who can play half an hour… Nelson was absolutely shattered, feeling his hamstrings tightening up a bit. We’ve got Traore playing right back for the last minutes. Two kids coming on late on who haven’t even had a professional loan yet but are getting minutes.
“In terms of fight and resilience and bravery, the lads showed a lot of that We showed some quality but we need to improve, teams know that we don’t have much of a threat in behind at the minute.
Nuno Espirito Santo spoketo BBC Match of the Day after the Premier League draw with Wolves: “The feeling that we have is that it’s a missed opportunity to take three points. We were the better team today and should have won the game.
“We conceded easily. We did not allow many chances but the ones we did allow was bad defending.
“I think Matheus Cunha was the only player in the box and we had two players against him and we allowed him to turn. It is a bad approach.
On Forest’s set piece record: “It is an ongoing situation this season and it is an issue so it is normal that it is spoken about. An easy situation to solve.”
On coming back behind: “Offensively we were good. It is not easy to play against a back five, with little spaces. But we created enough chances to win the game. It’s going to be a fight until the end and we are here to give it our all.”
“I’m very happy to come back. I say thank you to everyone who’s helped me, it’s amazing to help the team and enjoy a game in the Premier League.”

Twitter users reacted after Matheus Cunha cheekily mimics Morgan Gibbs-White’s taunting celebration towards Wolves fans…
@ForestAreMagico: Got to say I’m loving the banter between Forest and Wolves and the players getting involved. Made for a better game! 👉😁👈
@Tom_Huxley95: The celebration makes the goal even better #wwfc
@TheLKingston: The Morgan gibbs-white drama blows my mind. He joined them as a kid at 8 and he despises them and the fans hate his guts. Good for the game.
@oliviashley: did gibbs white shush sarabia after his goal ahahaha what a little weirdo 😭😭
@Brett_J89: Just watching MOTD and Morgan Gibbs white giving it the fingers in the ears to the dingles 😂😂😂 love it #wba
@notjohnneptune: Big fan of gibbs-white giving it loads there
@MrPauloGoodman: Morgan Gibbs-White obsession with trying to pick a fight with the Wolves fan base is genuinely bizarre. First game back at Molineux ppl were applauding him taking a corner (albeit some pantomime booing too). He’s then just pursued this fight. Proper weird.
@mattdobbo9: £45 million quid for Morgan Gibbs-White!!! Honestly, Wolves fans should be cheering the fuck out of the twat, because he is wank!
@StevenCross81: Gibbs-White was the man of the match today…but I’ll never understand him giving it the big ‘I am’ when his team are deep in a relegation battle and Wolves are sitting nicely, despite our flaws, on 43 points. Such a bizarre, bitter young man.
@binkie_boi: Wolves only sung about Gibbs-White, they don’t care though 😂 #NFFC
@wolves_abstract: Imagine being as talented as Morgan Gibbs-White but too petty to ever be an elite player.
@jakaban: Every wolves fan needs to forget about Morgan gibbs white, just think we got player like cunha for the price forest payed, give me cunha any day #wwfc
@WolvesMatty: Gibbs-White absolutely HATES the fact that he was at Wolves for 14 years and rejected by us year after year after year. We wasted half your career pal. Keep crying!
@martas32_: Gibbs white going up to the wolves player and shushing him, what a pathetic player. 😂
@076313e0378042a: Oh Morgan gibbs-white 💪🏻 beautiful. The wolves fans if they didn’t hate him already, they do now 😅 #nffc
@wulfsart: Morgan Gibbs White – so angry at the Club that gave him his chance. A very strange man.
