Manchester City stamped their authority on the Premier League last weekend by thrashing cross-city rivals Manchester United in devastating fashion. Liverpool kept in touch with the leaders though and made sure the title race was still interesting. And with more intriguing fixtures this weekend in the English top flight, read on to discover our best Premier League betting tips…
Brighton v Liverpool betting tips
Liverpool begin the weekend’s Premier League action with a trip down the south coast to take on a Brighton side that will be keen to reverse a four-game losing streak. Taking on Jürgen Klopp’s side is not an easy task these days, however, and the visitors could end the day just three points behind City at the top.
Although Liverpool’s attacking players attract the majority of headlines, it was the defence that ultimately won the day against West Ham last weekend. That’s not to say that they didn’t struggle at times – but individual performances were strong enough to claim the points. Trent Alexander-Arnold, in particular, was very impressive.
Brighton, meanwhile, were by far the second best against a rejuvenated Newcastle. Although the Seagulls seem safe, Graham Potter will be only too aware of how easily his team could get dragged into a relegation scrap.
They might not have too much of a chance here though and the Reds are 1/2 to take all three points. Liverpool to win to nil at 29/20 looks good. Back Liverpool this weekend and take advantage of £50 in free bets when you bet £10.
Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur betting tips
United will be out to save some face after the debacle against City on Sunday. The 4-1 thrashing showed just how far behind the champions Ralf Rangnick’s men are, and if they’re to claim a Champions League place this season they need to be winning games like this one at Old Trafford.
Spurs will fancy their chances though. Everton are looking very poor at the moment but the 5-0 thrashing handed out by Tottenham on Monday certainly made everyone sit up and take notice. Kane and Son were excellent as ever – but the addition of Dejan Kulusevski on loan from Juventus looks like the signing of the transfer window.
Kulusevski has added another level of creativity for Kane and Son to feed off and he could be just too much for a United midfield that’s really struggling at the moment. Rangnick doesn’t seem to have found a settled starting eleven yet and the away win at 12/5 looks like very good value.
Arsenal v Leicester City betting tips
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal continue to confound the critics that had them down to miss out on Europe for another season. The Gunners’ victory over Watford last weekend catapulted them back into the top four after a sticky patch at the end of January. The young attacking talent Arteta has at his disposal will worry more than a few defences in the remaining months of the season.
Leicester did manage to win back-to-back games for the first time since October, but their time as a regular contender for a Champions League spot has faded this season. Brendan Rodgers has had to deal with a makeshift defence for large periods of the season but a 1-0 win against Leeds is not an incredibly impressive result considering the Yorkshire side have failed to keep a clean sheet since November.
Arsenal have now won four games in a row and have scored at least two in the last three. The opponents have not been of the highest standard though – and the Gunners have still tended to concede.
Odds of 8/15 for the home win seems safe enough, but Arsenal to win and both teams to score at 2/1 looks even better. Place a £10 bet on Arsenal v Leicester and get £50 in free bets with bet365.
Crystal Palace v Manchester City betting tips
Manchester City will know by the time this game comes around on Monday whether Liverpool have closed the gap on them at the top of the table or not. But after beating United last weekend, Pep Guardiola will probably feel pretty confident of taking on just about anyone in the Premier League.
Palace away should be a comfortable trip for the champions but Patrick Vieira’s side have looked good in recent weeks and come into this one unbeaten in their last three. Included in that run was a big win away at Watford and an excellent performance against Wolves where Wilfried Zaha controlled the game, making the first and scoring the second from the spot.
That being said, this is a Manchester City team that have topped the league since the beginning of December and have only that shock home defeat to Spurs last month to spoil an 18-game unbeaten run in the Premier League. City are the predictable favourites to win this one at 2/7. But for them to win and for there to be more than four goals in the match at 9/5 seems much better value.
Premier League betting tips
Wout Weghorst’s arrival at Burnley initially seemed to be the perfect transfer. But he has struggled after a whirlwind start and the Clarets remain in the bottom three. Brentford have been buoyed by the arrival of Christian Eriksen and the goals of Ivan Toney. Get behind the Bees to win this one at 23/20.
Chelsea haven’t been able to keep up with Manchester City and Liverpool after leading the way earlier on in the season. A top four finish is still well within their grasp though and three points from an excitable, but limited, Newcastle seems a fairly straightforward task at 3/10.
Norwich look set to go straight back down to the Championship once again and could provide Jesse Marsch with his first win as Leeds boss – and a very important three points in the fight against relegation. Both sides are on terrible losing streaks but a Leeds win at 4/7 feels like the right way to go.
Everton look to be in real trouble and Frank Lampard will know only too well how difficult the fixture list is for his side over the next few months. Wolves still have one eye on a European place, so the away win at 23/10 seems an obvious one to take.
Speaking of the chase for a European spot, West Ham will not be too bothered about narrowly losing to Liverpool last weekend. But Aston Villa have looked like a different team since the arrival of Philippe Coutinho and the draw at 9/4 looks enticing here.
Southampton had been quietly going about their business until the 4-0 thumping at the hands of Aston Villa last week. They should be far too strong for relegation-threatened Watford on Sunday though, so go for the Saints to win at 6/10.
