Mason Mount praised for refusing to sign Man Utd shirts after being harassed by ‘fans’

Mason Mount has been praised for refusing to sign a number of Man Utd shirts after being harassed by so called ‘fans’ begging him.

A clip of the moment was uploaded online with Mount, who signed from Chelsea for £55 million this summer, become frustrated at the ‘same people’ coming up to him wanting his signature on merchandise.

Those so called fans are in a group, and walk alongside Mount while holding shirts for him to sign, in reportedly a car park in night conditions.

Mount can be heard saying: “You know I ain’t signing it, sorry lads.”

Those who waited for him get disappointed by his refusal, telling Mount “ah come on! Go on Bruv, come on Bruv, just a squad shirt for us!”

But clearly they ain’t backing down, even after Mount’s pleas.

Mount replies: “I haven’t signed for the last three days so I don’t know why you lot keep coming back”.

He appeared in the No.7 shirt when making his debut for the club in a 2-0 pre-season friendly victory against rivals Leeds United out in Oslo in midweek.

Prior to kickoff, Erik ten Hag said via MUTV: “I am sure he will contribute to the success of Manchester United because he is a quality player.

“In midfield you have to attack but you also have to defend. He will bring dynamic into our game. We need more dynamic in that midfield department.”

Mason Mount added after the game against Leeds that he determined to deliver for Manchester United supporters.

He started the Reds’ opening pre-season friendly and quickly got involved in the team’s best creative moments during his 45-minute run-out.

“I’ve seen it first hand now,” the midfielder told MUTV, when asked about the fans after the Premier League club’s 2-0 win.

“When we turned up last night and when we turned up at the stadium today, the support has been amazing. They came out and showed up for us today and it’s amazing to see.

“This is what we want to play for and we want to make them proud.

“We’ve been working very hard [in training], so it’s good to now put it into practice and play on the pitch now,” said Mount, who signed for the Reds in the same week the squad returned to Carrington.

“That first week is mostly focused on getting the legs going again, getting the distance in the legs by running. But we’ve definitely been working on a few tactics as well, coming into this game. I’ve definitely got a great understanding of how the manager wants to work and how the boys play.

“Obviously now it’s about using these games to work at it more and and putting it into practice when we get on the pitch. It was a good start today, a good win. As I said, it’s important to get the minutes in the legs, but it’s important to win as well and that’s what we want to do this season.

“All of us had a tough week, but it’s great to have that 45 minutes in the tank now.

“I really liked that role today,” said Mason on being in a deeper midfield position. “Being able to drop in and get on the ball and start the play from a bit deeper, but also having that freedom to be able to get forward and get in the box.”

Referencing the moment when he dispossessed young Leeds centre-back Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen and clipped a shot onto the roof of the net, Mount said: “I tried to make the runs in behind and help the press from the front. I had that chance just by starting off the press.”

As mentioned, Mason Mount was praised for refusing to sign Man Utd shirts after being harassed by ‘fans’…

@RapTalkv2: Fair, following someone around for 3 days in a row in any other situation police would be called

@ewancfc88: He isn’t signing them because the guy has a ton of tops, so he’ll be selling them

@PatrickGR91: They are clearly looking to sell them on

@cdbcfc_: Fair play to him. Fully grown men staling a footballer. Proper weirdos.

@MufcWonItAll: Apparently these 3 lads been hounding Mason mount to sign shirts. He’s already signed shirts for them and now they keep begging him for more. Obviously going to sell them straight away, just leave him alone ffs.

@BrianDurand56: Quite right too. Once he says no they should just go. No doubt they are looking to make a wad on eBay for it, as Mount probably suspects

@dwhiting879: People saying just sign, bollocks. Theyre not kids they’re young men and he says ive been signing for 3 days for yous why do yous keep coming back. That them trying to make money off other fans. Fair play mason mount

@Hardyisliving: Good on him. Clearly he’s been signing for them for 3days and he’s had enough of their dishonesty, they’re not real fans… they’re just looking to make money.

@saboteur78: 100% right to not sign it. These same grown men push kids out of the way and physically fight with people to get autographs at Old Trafford. They are not Man United fans. Looking for an easy quick buck. Ruining it for the genuine ones. More should be done about them.

@CullenLeeDane: Mason mount tells fully grown men to stop following someone half their age about for a signature and go home back to their kids, wife and job

@AdamJoseph____: Mason Mount just signed for Manchester United after departing his boyhood club in Chelsea & has already dealt with stalking from an Instagram model THIS SUMMER. Leave him alone, this is so embarrassing to see. He’s a human being, not anyone’s to harrass. #MUFC

@UtdBenI: Can’t believe how hard it is to just take no for an answer, made it clear he don’t want too if they’re following him around.
