Mansfield fans place banners on a bridge mocking Chesterfield and their fans who are returning home from Saturday’s playoff final defeat.
Supporters of the Stags wasted no time in getting messages written out of the flags, rushing to a bridge ready for when their rivals upon their return back up north.
Chesterfield lost the National League clash at Wembley, as the Magpies equalised twice in the most dramatic way, first forcing extra-time, and then won on penalties.
One banner made by a Mansfield fan read: “Welcome home no league losers!”
The other read: “Rot in hell Chez HA HA MSE (Mansfield Shady Express)”

In the first five minute, goalkeeper Sam Slocombe gave away a penalty with Andrew Dallas of Chesterfield putting his side ahead.
County couldn’t find a reply until John Bostock, a former Tottenham prospect, scored a late equaliser by sneaking in a free-kick behind Ross Fitzsimons’ goal with two minutes left of normal time.
Slocombe was beaten again, when Armando Dobra deflected a strike that flew by him.
Ruben Rodrigues brought his team back into the game with a bounced effort after the half, and there was nothing between them after 120 mins.
Luke Williams, the County manager, brought in Archie Mair, a second-choice shot stopper before the shootout. This proved to be a brilliant decision.
Bostock was able to win after Oldaker and King’s efforts were saved. His panenka bounced off the bar.
Chesterfield’s Paul Cook couldn’t watch the shootout, with Cedwyn Scott, whose stoppage-time penalty was saved by Ben Foster last month in the defeat to Wrexham, avenged that by sealed the victory and promotion at Wembley.
“I can’t comprehend it, I’m lost,” Luke Williams told BBC Radio Nottingham.
“It’s incredible, I have no idea what’s going on.
“I’ve learned that when these guys look like they are done, they are not – they have another roll of the dice.”
“You are just in a world of stress,” Williams said of the emotions of the game.
“I don’t think I had a moment of enjoyment until Cedwyn’s penalty crossed the line.”
Ex-Notts striker Mark Stallard told BBC Radio Nottingham: “Notts County put you through the mill and then some, but they never say die.
“It’s the cruelest of ways for Chesterfield to lose, but it’s the most joyous, most unbelievable, most fantastical script that couldn’t be written.
“We’ve talked about a Hollywood season, well this is a Hollywood ending for everybody following Notts County.
“Archie Mair the hero with two penalty saves, Cedwyn Scott the man who scores the ultimate penalty after missing that penalty in the final minute at Wrexham.
“It’s been an unbelievable season for Notts County where they get absolutely what they deserve.
“They weren’t at their best but in these sort of games it’s all about the result and somehow they got the result because they don’t know when they’re beaten.
“You have to feel for Chesterfield because they did everything they could but Notts just would not be denied.”
Chesterfield boss Paul Cook said his side “have no regrets about the game” and adds that it was “insane” that Notts had not already gone up, with just the one automatic promotion spot up for grabs in England’s fifth tier.
“I have to congratulate Notts County on an excellent year, to get the amount of points they had and not go up [automatically] is a real blow,” Cook said.
“This is a very competitive, good league, with a lot of good managers, coaches and teams in it. How it’s only been allowed to have one team go up automatically is just insane. It’s an absolute sporting disgrace.
“Notts County should have gone up automatically without a doubt. Today we came here and we have no regrets about the game – we have done our best.”
