Man City’s John Stones and Bernardo Silva takes swipe at Arsenal in post match interview

Man City’s John Stones and Bernardo Silva takes a swipe at Arsenal in their post match interview after Sunday’s Premier League fixture.

Erling Haaland put the hosts ahead with his 100th goal for the club, Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel hit back to put the Gunners ahead.

Leandro Trossard got sent off just before half time for kicking the ball away, so in the second half, Arsenal slowed the game down as much as they could.

It nearly paid off, however John Stones equalised in the 98th minute to rescue a point. Man City are top of the Premier League with 13 points from 5 games while Arsenal sit 4th with 11 points.

Player ratings (per Sky Sports):

Man City:Ā Ederson (6), Gvardiol (6), Akanji (7), Dias (7), Walker (6), Gundogan (7), Rodri (6), Silva (7), Doku (6), Haaland (7), Savinho (7).

As mentioned, Man City’s John Stones and Bernardo Silva takes a swipe at Arsenal in their post match interview…

Asked about Arsenal’s dark arts, Stones said: ā€œI don’t know if they have mastered it, they’ve done it for a few years, and we know to expect that. You can call it clever, or dirty, whichever way you want to put it.

ā€œThey break up the game, and it upsets the rhythm for everyone. I thought we dealt with it really well. It’s not easy when those things are happening, and you’re trying to gain momentum, you’re trying to get a foot in the game and get above them. Those little stoppages stop that.ā€

Silva said: ā€œThere was only one team that came to play football. The other came to play to the limits of what was possible to do and allowed by the referee.

ā€œThe second goal is already their usual block to our keeper allowed by the referee. And then the referee allowed a sequence of time-wasting events.ā€

Questioned over the difference between City’s battles with Liverpool and their newer rivalry with Arsenal, Silva said: ā€œMaybe that Liverpool have already won a Premier League, Arsenal haven’t. That Liverpool have won a Champions League, Arsenal haven’t. Liverpool always faced us face to face to try to win the games.ā€

Mikel Arteta complained about referee, Michael Oliver, lacking consistency having failed to book City’s Jeremy Doku when he kicked the ball away, only to then show Trossard a second yellow for the same offence.

ā€œI’ve seen it and it’s obvious,ā€ Arteta said. ā€œIf it’s like that, I’m expecting 100 games to be 10 v 11 this season.ā€

ā€œObviously, it is already a miracle we played 56 minutes at the Etihad with 10 men. It is unbelievable what we have done. It is obvious what -happened when they made that -decision, but it doesn’t deserve my comment. We adapted in the best possible way, the way we compete – I’m so proud of them. It couldn’t be a more difficult situation and the way we handled it.ā€

In August, we saw Arsenal go down to 10 men when Declan Rice was sent off in their 1-1 draw with Brighton also for booking the ball away.

When celebrating Stones’s goal, Haaland also could be seen cheekily throwing the ball off Gabriel’s head, something which Arteta played down.

ā€œI think it was emotions and that’s it,ā€ he said.

Pep Guardiola meanwhile spoke on Rodri, who was forced off with a knee injury. ā€œI don’t know [how serious],ā€ he said. ā€œI didn’t ask the doctors.ā€

Guardiola criticised Kyle Walker for failing to mark Gabriel when the latter scored. ā€œHe has to [do better] and didn’t.ā€

FAN REACTION:

@CartoonBouldy: Stones and Silva both complaining about us breaking the game up. The lack of self-awareness is incredible, but also very typical of Pep’s whole victim shtick.

@Gravitygunner14: What nonsense is this!! It’s always Man City fans crying. Where was all this chat when Jesus took the ball from you time and time again.

@KezAFC: When did this City team turn into such whiney bitches? Post match interviews from Silva and Stones are embarrassing yet Keane saying Mikel should show some class. Say that to his face šŸ˜‚

@Rory_Talks_Ball: The City players do genuinely seem a bit rattled by us now, 4 games without a win against us, beginning to take its toll

@Ronaldlin: The same bunch who is crowding the referees for every single decision that went against them. Like the ref didn’t help them enough.

@R0N4W_: I hate Arsenal but they’re 10men down to a ridiculous referee decision, and leading 2-1. Why wouldn’t they park the bus lmao fucking city twats, can’t stand the sight of them

@GoonerTaIk: There’s nothing funnier than John Stones complaining about Arsenal’s ā€˜dark arts’ when Man City are literally being dragged through the courts for 115 charges of financial doping over a 10 year period. Your entire fucking club is built on a foundation of cheating, you rat.

@AFCjordc: The ball was in play more then any other game this season you moaning twat! You’re talking about referees when ARSENAL had to go down to 10 men. What a bunch of pussies lol

@elbearos: He knows what’s happening, more coffee Bernado?

@CharlieHammondx: You can tell these lot are shitting themselves against Arsenal. They knew they had Liverpool where they wanted them. Kicking chairs and all sorts. There is a panic over in Manchester, and for the first time in a long time, it’s not the red side..

@Yesitsrobharvey: Arsenal haven’t won the premier league and Citeh didn’t play against 10 men for nearly an hour. 115 charges probably didn’t happen either. Fucking little gobshite.

@Lisacochrane: The saltiness off this guy is utter pathetic 🤣 might aswell gon join Liverpool, number 1 fan we’ve got here🤣 chin up pal, that’s what? 4 games without a win against Arsenal, it’s telling with this childlike response @BernardoCSilva

@Kethamz: Look I’m a Liverpool fan and I dont like City but rivalry aside this is perfectly summarized. If you live football in the pitch, you can never go along with what Arsenal is doing.

@CharlesCotton15: Not only a player who knows what he’s doing on the field, Also knows what he’s talking about šŸ©µšŸ™ Bernardo….

@FFW_AndyShore: Summarised perfectly. Yet the red cartel claiming City had the ref on their side 🤣🤔🤔🤔
