A young Man City player causes backlash by celebrating Leeds 2-1 win against his own employers on Saturday’s lunchtime kick off.
With rivals Manchester United now having a chance of cutting the Sky Blues’ lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points, fans celebrated in delight and shock on social media.
However one of those was in fact Manchester City under 23s star Sammy Robinson, who shared his feelings about the game via his Instagram account, and what a stir it caused.

In a snap on the 19-year-old’s story, the defender showed the final score on the TV in his living room with Guardiola on camera at the time.
It showed the 50 year old Spaniard looking furious at the score, with Robinson, whose biography on his account says he is from Leeds, includes three blue hearts and Leeds’ Instagram handle on the snap.
Fair to say there will be some awkwardness towards the youngster upon his return to the training pitch, who has made seven appearances this season in the Premier League 2 side.
Playing as a right-back, he started breaking into the U18 side in 2017, scoring a goal against West Brom in February 2018.
Man City say about the player on their site: “A whole-hearted central defender, and another who is comfortable in possession,
“England Under-16 international Sammy was promoted to the EDS squad in January 2020 and will continue to be a key player in 2020/21.”
With him impressing though, he is now moving up the academy, even getting into the England Development Squad last January.
Speaking last summer of his time in the Leeds set-up as a youngster, Robinson said: “I’m from Leeds, I was at Leeds before until Under-13.
“I was playing two years up at Leeds, playing with the Under-13s when I was 18, it was good.
“But the position Leeds were in, they weren’t run properly, City were watching me and seeing how I developed.
“I didn’t want to leave at first but realised it [City] was the better place to develop myself.”
Stuart Dallas scored with both of Leeds’ shots on goal, including the winner in injury time; Liam Cooper had been sent off at the Etihad just before the break after a VAR review for a challenge on Gabriel Jesus.

What the managers said
Man City manager Pep Guardiola said after the game: “What happens when you lose a game is you realise how difficult it is what we’ve done so far. When you see the last 27 or 28 games we’ve won 26, you realise how difficult it is what we have done.
“The Premier League must be won so we need points still because our opponents could win all their games, so we need to do it again. Now we have, of course, Aston Villa in the middle but the next four games, three are like we have finals, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup. Defeat sometimes is necessary to understand what we have done and what we have to do to move forward.”
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa said after the game: “They dominated the game, the majority of the chances at goal were in their favour. But the result was deserved because of the character, personality, effort and fortitude from a mental and physical point of view.
“It is a little bit strange to say it – as it would have been fair for City to win – but we deserved to win.”
